Nottingham Forest now in talks to sell £26m recent Nuno signing this January

Nottingham Forest are now in talks to offload one of Nuno’s summer signings this January, as he has failed to make the desired impact at the City Ground.

Forest looking to offload Nuno signing after Dyche arrival

Evangelos Marinakis wasted little time appointing a successor to Ange Postecoglou, with Sean Dyche recently giving his first interview since becoming manager, in a journey that has come full circle, having started at Forest as a youth player.

Dyche will be under no illusions as to the size of the task at hand, with the Tricky Trees currently in the Premier League relegation zone, having already sacked two managers, while there is also European Football to contend with.

Indeed, the 54-year-old’s first match in charge will be against FC Porto on Thursday evening, with his side still looking for their first win in the Europa League, having suffered an extremely disappointing 3-2 home defeat against FC Midtjylland last time out.

The former Everton boss has just over two months to improve results before the January transfer window opens, at which point the manager may look to reshuffle the squad he has inherited and bring in some new recruits.

According to a report from Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), a departure may also be on the cards, with it being revealed that Nottingham Forest have now entered talks to sell €30m (£26m) summer signing Arnaud Kalimuendo.

Kalimuendo hasn’t hit the ground running since being signed in the summer, with the 23-year-old still yet to start a match, and his time at the City Ground may already be coming to an end, with the Tricky Trees open to a loan departure, which would include a purchase option.

A January exit could be on the cards, with AS Roma named as the team that have entered discussions with Forest, given that sporting director Frederic Massara knows the striker well from their time together at Rennes.

Immediate concern for Dyche at Nottingham Forest after Marinakis decision

It probably isn’t what the new manager wanted to hear.

ByCharlie Smith Oct 21, 2025 Kalimuendo must improve ahead of January

On paper, the signing of the Frenchman made perfect sense, given his goal and assist record in Ligue 1 since making a breakthrough at Lens during the 2020/21 season.

However, the former Rennes man has been unable to force his way into the plans of either Nuno or Postecoglou, appearing for just 65 minutes across five substitute appearances in the Premier League.

Once described as “prolific” by scout Jacek Kulig, the centre-forward has been nothing of the sort since arriving at Forest, and he may continue to struggle to get into the team in the coming weeks, given that Dyche is well-known to be a big fan of Chris Wood.

It seems a little early to sanction Kalimuendo’s departure, as it often takes players time to adapt to life in the Premier League, but the grace period can only last so long.

A comissão participou dessa decisão. Nesse caso agora estamos tratando de forma interna – relatou o treinador Zé Ricardo.

England seek 'momentum shift' in deciding ODI against India

Charlie Dean says pressure of performing in hard-fought bilateral series can help harden team ahead of World Cup

An even scoreline going into Tuesday’s deciding ODI between England and India in Durham carries stakes higher than a series win.Victory for England would bring a more meaningful endorsement of their new leadership than sweeping West Indies aside could and with it a confidence boost ahead of the World Cup.As co-hosts of that tournament, a loss for India feels like more of a setback, especially as they completely outplayed England in three of the five T20Is that preceded this 50-over leg of the tour.Charlie Dean, the England offspinner who was Player of the Match in the fifth T20I with 3 for 23 as the home side took a consolation victory to make it 3-2 to the visitors, felt winning a high-pressure match against India would constitute a step forward for her team.Related

“Losing the T20 series as well and the first game of the 50-overs, it would probably feel like a bit of a shift, just a bit of momentum maybe,” Dean said. “So to be able to pull that off would be something really special and it would give a lot of the girls a lot of confidence going to India playing some of the best teams.”When England joined India in being bundled out of the T20 World Cup at the group stage last year, there were murmurings that they hadn’t been pushed enough in the lead-up, going unbeaten at home to Pakistan and eventual T20 world champions New Zealand. When they play their first match of the 50-over World Cup on October 3 – almost a year to the day since their opening match of the T20 event – England won’t have that excuse.Their two T20I wins against India have gone down to the last over, their only comfortable victory coming in the rain-hit second ODI at Lord’s where a combination of England’s spinners, a lightning start to the run-chase by Tammy Beaumont and the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method helped them to an eight-wicket win with three overs to spare.”Whenever we can challenge ourselves in pressure situations, especially in these bilateral series, we’re only going to benefit from it,” Dean said. “When you’re in a winning position, you don’t want to lose that and force yourself into places where you have to really be on it, but in a way it’s good learning and a way that you grow as players.”We’ve seen bilateral series where we’ve done really well and then when it comes to World Cup games and tournament cricket, we’ve maybe not had momentum or not been clinical in those pressure moments. So any chances that we can emulate that in bilateral series is perfect practice.”Dean also acknowledged that England’s spinners, who took six wickets between them to cause irreparable damage to India’s formidable middle-order at Lord’s, could learn from their visiting counterparts. And perhaps no one had been more instructive than Deepti Sharma, whom Dean has played with and against since being controversially run out backing up by Deepti the last time they played an ODI at Lord’s, a moment Dean described as “water under the bridge” despite another feisty encounter on Saturday.”When we look at the Indian spinners and our spinners, we are all very different bowlers and I think I’ve probably been drawn into some comparisons,” Dean said. “But what we do as English spinners is we bowl the ball with a bit more pace on it, and that means that it might go to the boundary a little quicker, but it’s something that we’ve had to do and that’s how we play on English wickets.”Also maybe our batters are a little more susceptible to spin than India’s bating line-up. They’re all brilliant sweepers, they use their feet and they really come at us hard, which is something that we look to emulate with the bat as well but we try and stay away from comparisons too much because you maybe get a little lost.”But taking pace off and being really accurate, Deepti’s just hammered the stumps and changed her pace, and it works really well for her. That’s something that we can really look to try and emulate in our own way, without trying to be something that we’re not.”For her own part, Dean has concentrated on adapting between formats and looked for lessons that can be used in Indian conditions in just over two months’ time.”I’m in a really good spot and that might not be reflected against all games that I’ve played, but having that innate sense of, ‘I’m going well here,’ and really backing that no matter what situation I come into is something that I’ve probably not had in my international career for a while,” she said.”Predominantly in English conditions I bowl a lot of scrambled seams and try and skid onto the stumps and while that has its place – particularly in Indian conditions where you get a bit more favour, a bit more turn, I can look to slow it down and really try and spin the ball – which sometimes I go away from because I feel like if it’s turning too much, I might miss the stumps.”Sometimes accuracy can be your biggest currency in women’s cricket, so it’s just knowing the right moment to go between different plans. But all that’s doing is building a portfolio of skills that I have in my basket that I can hopefully go out and use when it comes to the World Cup.”

Fabrizio Romano shares Wolves 'talks' as Fosun line up two new appointments

Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on a pair of appointments that Wolverhampton Wanderers are expected to make in the near future.

Despite being given a contract extension just weeks into the season, Vitor Pereira was sacked by Wolves following 10 Premier League games without a win. The Midlands side have since been linked with a number of managers that could potentially replace the Portuguese.

Wolves are eight points adrift of safety, sitting rock bottom of the league table with just two points taken from a potential 30. Whoever replaces Pereira will have a sizeable job on their hands, and the frontrunner appears to be Rob Edwards, with an approach made on Thursday.

For their upcoming clash against Chelsea, Wolves have decided on who will take interim charge of the first-team as they seek not one, but two new appointments.

Soon after Pereira was relieved of his duties, director of football Domenico Teti departed the club, having only joined in the summer to work alongside the manager.

Romano shares update as Wolves pursue appointments

It is imperative that Fosun, who have owned Wolves since 2016, make appointments that will be effective in their roles and able to contribute to Wolves’ efforts to retain their status as a Premier League outfit. As per GIVEMESPORT, Romano has revealed that work is ongoing on both fronts.

Though Wolves have been linked with some options, such as Erik ten Hag, who have no prior connection to the club, reports have suggested that Wolves are interested in a manager that knows the club. Until pulling himself out of the running, ex-Wolves boss Gary O’Neil was linked with a return.

Edwards seems the most likely candidate, having enjoyed a strong start to the season as Middlesbrough head coach. The former defender, who guided Luton Town to the Premier League, spent four years at Molineux during his playing career.

As per Romano, Wolves are looking to “cover” their director of football position alongside hiring a new manager, ensuring that they are prepared for both the remainder of the season and the fast-approaching January transfer window.

There is still time for Wolves to salvage something from the season, but such an act relies on the correct decisions being made with important appointments such as the ones they must now make.

Perrin, 18, showcases sparkling talent in Superchargers thrashing

Opener hits unbeaten 72 off 40 balls to keep Rockets winless

Eighteen-year-old Davina Perrin continued her impressive domestic form with a sparkling 42-ball 70 to overpower Trent Rockets in The Hundred. It was Perrin’s first half-century in The Hundred, and the second-highest score by a female English player uncapped at international level. More importantly for Perrin and Northern Superchargers, it took them to the top of the table with two wins from two.”I had a conversation with one of the coaches before and he said: ‘What are you going to do when you go out?’ And I was like: ‘have fun,'” Perrin said. “It was a pretty decent deck, it was coming onto the bat nicely, so it allowed me to lean into it and just try and play strong shots. It’s nice to do it front of so many people and on a decent ground, so happy days.”It was a dominant performance from the team in purple, who were on top straight away and rarely let their foot off the gas, save some customary excellence from Trent Rockets skipper Ash Gardner. The Superchargers had Rockets at 5 for 3 after 18 balls and right up against it, Gardner did her thing to fight back with a 32-ball 61 but it was essentially a lone hand and her side’s eventual total of 128 felt light at a sun-dappled Trent Bridge.Ash Gardner forces one away through the off side•Warren Little/Getty Images

Perrin dominated the opening partnership of 62 with Alice Davidson-Richards and entertained the crowd throughout, with strong shots all around the wicket and even a one-handed scoop. Phoebe Litchfield matched her stroke for stroke with her 10-ball 22 and Annabel Sutherland finished things off in a fittingly creative way, reverse-sweeping through the off-side.It was a performance of great promise from the Superchargers who will feel they’re laying down a marker, for Rockets the need to get a win on the board is getting ever greater.

"Big" – Attanasio's message to Clement that convinced him to join Norwich

Norwich City have appointed former Rangers boss Philippe Clement as the club’s head coach, and the new boss has revealed a message of ambition from majority shareholder Mark Attanasio.

Clement – sacked by Rangers in February – has signed a contract through to the summer of 2029 and will be joined at Carrow Road by coach Stephan Van Der Heyden.

The Belgian replaces Liam Manning, who left Carrow Road ahead of the international break with the Canaries second bottom of the Sky Bet Championship, having lost all of their home matches so far this season.

Norwich were reported to have spoken to both ex-Wolves boss Gary O’Neil, who had a spell as a player with the Canaries, as well as former Sweden and Blackburn manager Jon Dahl Tomasson, before settling on Clement.

Although the Belgian’s time at Ibrox ended following a disappointing run – with Rangers well adrift of rivals Celtic in the league – Clement did win the 2024 Premier Sports Cup and had previously guided Club Brugge to their domestic title twice before a spell at Monaco.

Clement excited by Norwich ambition

His reign in Glasgow was marred by issues with ownership and recruitment – the Rangers board are still unter intense scrutiny after their failed summer revamp of the playing squad and appointment of Russell Martin – but Clement has revealed he is excited by what Attanasio and Co have in store in Norfolk.

“I’m really excited by this story and opportunity. I’ve known of this club for a long time and, whilst we are not in a good moment at this time, we are excited to work together with the players and staff to turn things around,” Clement said on the Norwich club website, revealing the board’s ambition convinced him to join.

Clement’s first game in charge will be away at Birmingham on Saturday.

Norwich sporting director Ben Knapper added: “Philippe is an incredibly experienced and prominent head coach, with clear values and beliefs that align with ours.

“We now have an incredible amount of work ahead of us to ensure we improve performances and results and we will do everything possible to ensure Philippe has our full backing and support.”
