It’s that time again. With Wembley awaiting Aston Villa’s presence, all fans are hoping the Villans can pull through and return to the Premier League.

To find yourself in the play-off final two years in a row is some achievement and Dean Smith should take massive credit for what he has thus far achieved in a short space of time at Villa Park.

A depleted, beaten group of players is what he most likely saw when walking into the changing room in October but now Aston Villa are a group of individuals highly motivated to achieve what was the unthinkable at one stage in the season and that’s gain promotion.

The turnaround hasn’t been easy but one thing that definitely made it more straightforward is the impact Tyrone Mings has made.

Mings (who is valued at £3.1 million on Transfermarkt) has been nothing short of brilliant since joining Aston Villa in January.

Alone, he has massively helped improve their overall ability to defend and Aston Villa have surged into the play-off final almost because of it.

His form has been so good that plenty of teams will be flocking to try and sign him as well, though if Villa do gain promotion back into the Premier League, they should really fancy their chances of keeping him on a permanent basis.

The 26-year-old was completely out of favour at Bournemouth and this loan to the Villans has brought him back to life and he’s currently playing some of the best football of his life.

Their fate is soon to be sealed and as soon as it does happen, great effort must straight away go into signing Tyrone Mings.

وقال جاموندي في تصريحات عبر قناة “أون تايم سبورتس”: “نهائي دوري أبطال إفريقيا سيكون كبيرًا جدًا، بين الأهلي والزمالك”.

وتابع: “اعتقد أن الأهلي يستطيع الاحتفاظ بالكرة بشكل جيد ومن الناحية التكتيكية الفريق في قوته وهي النقطة المهمة التي يتميز بها اللاعبون وهو يستطيع السيطرة على الكرة والتحرك بشكل جيد، هم يستطيعون تحريك التمريرات بشكل متميز، ولدى الأهلي من اللاعبين المتميزين”.

وتابع: “الزمالك فريق جيد وقوي جدًا وفي انتظار لقائه مع خصمه الأهلي، الهجمات المرتدة ينفذها الزمالك بشكل جيد، وبالتأكيد سنشهد مباراة نهائية مختلفة تمامًا عن ما قدمه الفريقان، خاصة أنهما يعرفان بعضهما”.

وبسؤاله عن الأفضل بين طريقة اللعب موسيماني أم باتشيكو، أوضح: “أفضل طريقة موسيماني لأنها تعتمد على الضغط على الخصم، ونقل الكرة السريعة والهجوم المستمر”.

وواصل: “الزمالك يطبق طريقة دفاعية جيدة وينتهز الفرصة لهجمات مضادة، هذه طريقته وعلينا احترامها، ربما في الوداد أفضل كمدرب طريقة موسيماني”.

أردف: “خسارة الوداد من الأهلي والرجاء من الزمالك، كانت بسبب أن هناك كثيرًا من اللاعبين مجهدين، وكانت مسابقة سيئة ولم يحالفنا الحظ في البطولة، ومن ثم خسرنا المباراتين لأن الأهلي فريق متميز جدًا وسوبر في إفريقيا وكذلك الزمالك، الوداد خسر المباراتين وكان هناك الكثير من اللاعبين غائبين عن الفريق أمام الأهلي، ولم يؤدي الفريق كما كان يؤدي من قبل”.

Arsenal are preparing a bid for Ryan Fraser after the Europa League final, according to The Independent.

What’s the word?

Bournemouth are facing an uphill battle to keep Fraser after the winger’s scintillating season that saw him score seven goals and add 14 assists.

After notching just 11 assists in his first two seasons of consistent game-time, Fraser took the Premier League by storm over the 2018/2019 campaign to lead Bournemouth to a comfortable 14th-place finish.

With just one year left on his contract, the Cherries fear their prize asset may not sign a new deal and are holding out for £30m in any sale.

Trouble for Mesut Ozil

Initially, the arrival of a young dynamic winger such as Fraser would cause concern for the likes of Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan who the Scotsman could be directly replacing.

However, in reality, it is former World Cup winner Ozil who should be biting his nails as a move for Fraser heats up. While occupying different spots on the pitch, both the German and the seven-cap Scot garner a similar role within their teams as the chief creative architect.

Ozil’s deficiencies are often accepted due to his immense flashes of brilliance, but Unai Emery would clearly prefer a player who can contribute all over the pitch as Ozil was restricted to just 24 Premier League appearances and dropped for massive matches against Manchester City and Chelsea.

Emery’s scepticism at Ozil’s ability to perform in the Premier League was clear after he said the German was not suited to the physicality and intensity of November’s 2-1 victory the Vitality Stadium.

Fraser dwarfs Ozil’s defensive production, displayed by the fact that Howe even stationed the Scottish international as a wing-back during the 2017/18 season due to his phenomenal work-rate.

Arsenal often find themselves over-run in midfield, especially on the counter-attack – something that was particularly evident in Wolves’ 3-1 victory against the Gunners in April when Ozil made zero defensive contributions as Arsenal were trounced by Nuno Espirito Santo’s marauding side.

The acquisition of Fraser would allow Emery to consistently drop Ozil for a more defensive-minded midfielder as the Gunners’ point of attack changes from the middle of the park to out wide.

With Ozil in the side, Arsenal sacrifice midfield stability in favour of a creative spark, but with Fraser that spark can be replaced while ensuring more solidity.

Barcelona are hoping to receive €25million (£22m) for Andre Gomes, per Mundo Deportivo, as Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United monitor the midfielder.

What’s the word?

The Portugal international has spent the season on loan at Everton and the Catalan club are reportedly ready to cash in this summer.

Gomes made 29 appearances in all competitions for the Toffees and has emerged as a target for both Spurs and the Hammers.

He has a contract until 2021 at Camp Nou and has played 78 times for the club, but the report states that he is likely to head back to the Premier League this summer.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is said to be a fan of the midfielder as he looks to bolster a squad that has finished in the top-four of the Premier League and reached the Champions League final.

But they face competition from the Irons, who have also entered the bidding. A separate report claims that West Ham have already tabled an offer worth £18m, which has been rejected.

Everton, too, are said to be keen on securing his signature but Barcelona have no obligation to sell the player to the Toffees.

A battle West Ham have to win

West Ham’s need is far greater than Tottenham’s.

The Hammers need to refresh their midfield with new blood, having relied on the ageing legs of Mark Noble for too long.

Spurs have the likes of Dele Alli, Harry Winks, Christian Eriksen, Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier, plus the emerging Oliver Skipp, in the position and are flooded with both depth and quality.

A £22m swoop for Gomes would be a fine jumping off point for Spurs’ summer but he is hardly the headline-grabbing name that they truly need to climb to the next level; for West Ham, though, he could be.

His experience is indispensable and he could help Declan Rice mature into the player so many Hammers fans hope that he will be.

West Ham simply need to win this bidding war.

Sheffield United fans on Twitter have been debating how much George Baldock should be sold for.

A report from Football Insider earlier this week stated that Celtic are interested in the right-back and that they have bid £3m for his services.

Blades fans on social media weren’t adverse to the idea of Baldock departing Bramall Lane, but they certainly wanted a much higher fee for the defender.

Most fans were in agreement that the defender was worth more than the reported £3m bid, although there was some difference in the prices supporters were quoting.

One member of the fanbase stated that the Englishman is worth as much as £15m, while another said that £5m-£6m would be a reasonable price – perhaps due to Baldock’s contract situation.

It remains to be seen whether or not the right-back will be sold to the Scottish champions in this transfer window, but fans are pretty adamant that the club should be looking to get more than the alleged £3m currently on offer.

There may be changes afoot at right-back for Sheffield United as they have been linked with the signing of Todd Kane just one week after Celtic made a bid for George Baldock.

If Chris Wilder is going to have a change in personnel at wing-back, he must be very careful as that role in his system is one of the most demanding positions in football.

Wilder’s wing-backs

Sheffield United were promoted twice in three years playing a unique brand of football – Wilder’s patented 5-2-1-2 system where the wing-backs are key.

If Kane arrived at Bramall Lane, he would be asked to play a role much different to the one he has played in any of his previous loan spells.

Wilder deploys two wing-backs that aren’t afraid to push up high. Enda Stevens has often been the more attacking wing-back down the left, and he is tasked with delivering a barrage of balls into the attackers.

On the other flank has been Baldock, and the right-side has been more reliant on fitness and the ability to pass as the 26-year-old acts as a box-to-box player down the right side. Tireless running and great ball-playing abilities are two of the most critical attributes a wing-back in Wilder’s system must have.

Kane’s ability

The former Chelsea man had a great season at Hull City last term, and a return of three goals from right-back indicates that he is decent going forward.

Although the stat that is the most telling is his pass success rate. Just 65.6% of Kane’s passes found the mark, and if that doesn’t improve he could end up flopping at Bramall Lane.

Wilder’s full-backs have to be fantastic ball players and what Kane has shown so far in his career indicates that he isn’t one. Compare Kane’s pass rate of 65.6% to Baldock’s 77.3%, and it is clear to see where the 25-year-old would struggle if he moved to Yorkshire.
