Tottenham Hotspur youngster Dane Scarlett is enjoying a superb season with the Spurs academy and based on his current progress, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he starts to feature regularly in the first-team in the next couple of seasons.

The 16-year-old featured in the first-team during pre-season and was rewarded with his professional debut in the 4-0 win against Ludogorets in the Europa League group stages earlier in the season.

The striker has contributed an impressive 19 goals and four assists in just 15 appearances for the U’18 side so far this season, whilst he also has two goals in two appearances in the Premier League 2.

Last season we saw Troy Parrott touted as the potential long-term replacement for Harry Kane but the Republic of Ireland international has disappointed in his loan spell with Millwall so far this season, having failed to score in 13 appearances for the Championship side.

Although he is only 18 himself, it might not be too long until Scarlett overtakes him at the pecking order at Spurs, and he is clearly turning heads at the North London club, having managed to score five goals in the 6-2 win against Newport County in the FA Youth Cup recently.

Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold was quick to praise the 16-year-old in a recent article, suggesting that those at the club feel he could be a ‘real star of the future.’

He also lauded the youngster on Twitter after he scored past Petr Cech in an U23 game against Chelsea, dubbing him the “record-breaking teenager” in reference to him becoming the youngest ever player to feature in a game for Spurs’ senior team earlier in the season.

Although this record was surpassed by Alfie Devine when he appeared in the 5-0 win against Marine, Scarlett remains the youngest ever player to feature in Europe for Spurs, and if his form with the academy sides continues, it won’t be too long until he makes his second appearance for Mourinho’s side.

Certainly, it seems as if Scarlett could quickly surpass Parrott as the one to watch in Spurs’ academy unless the 18-year-old starts to find the net in the Championship.

YorkshireLive revealed exclusively on Wednesday evening that The Owls were closing in on free-agent winger Andre Green as the Hillsborough outfit aim to move clear of the drop zone.

They claim that the 22-year-old is set to undergo a medical in south Yorkshire within the next 24 hours and that he has been a long-term target of the Owls’ hierarchy.

Green, who has been on Wednesday’s radar since the summer, has been out of contract since his departure from Aston Villa in July.

Bye-bye Kachunga?

This is a rather encouraging sign, even despite the fact that Dejphon Chansiri still hasn’t appointed a successor to Tony Pulis, as bolstering the attack is something any new manager would need to do anyway.

As the sacked Welshman explained in early December, this current squad is hugely unbalanced, he told reporters (via The Star): “If you look at it, there are six centre-halves, and I don’t think we’ve got a left-back. We’ve got five tens, and really not a centre-forward.”

Aside from Jordan Rhodes, the Owls are certainly lacking a striker, which means that both Pulis and Monk considered summer signing Elias Kachunga a winger – indeed, the former Huddersfield man has played 130 matches on either flank throughout the course of his career.

He would be most at risk with the arrival of Green as he’s only featured in 559 minutes of Championship action all season, starting only five times, per Transfermarkt. If a new option is brought in, one who will move ahead of him in the pecking order, then Kachunga’s chances of getting game time will likely reduce even more, and he’s hardly a regular in the team now.

FootballLeagueWorld believe Kachunga could be one player looking for an exit this window, as a result.

Green may not have played at all since last season, but he’d still be a very viable alternative.

Despite only being 22, the left-winger has racked up 55 appearances in the Championship, where he has contributed towards six goals, via Transfermarkt.

During his final loan spell at Charlton Athletic last season, he drew high praise from striker Lyle Taylor, who dubbed the attacker a “real handful,” whilst Villa reporter Ashley Preece believes he can be “unplayable on his day” – and he’s seen him in action first hand.

Wednesday currently rank second-worst in the Championship for goals scored, having bagged only 15 times in 23 outings, so clearly, adding someone who is a nuisance in attack should help aid that cause.

Especially after Green claimed he was becoming a “confident striker” despite being a winger prior to his release. He’d be a far better option than the struggling one-goal Kachunga.

According to a report by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via Sport Witness, West Ham United have been ‘offered’ the chance to sign AS Roma striker Edin Dzeko in January by an agent – coming as the former Premier League target man is currently at the centre of an alleged fall out with manager Paulo Fonseca.

Dzeko, who enjoyed a prolific spell with Manchester City in England, winning two league titles, one FA Cup, one League Cup and the Community Shield (Transfermarkt), has now apparently been offered out to the Irons as David Moyes continues his striker chase.

Dzeko ‘offered’ to West Ham

Entering the list of linked attacking stars West Ham could reportedly snap up this month, Dzeko is now claimed to be on the table for GSB due to an Italian agent presenting him as a new striking option.

Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claim that Bosnian has had a behind the scenes fall-out with Fonseca, with their relationship as player and first team coach though to be ‘beyond repair’.

As a result, Dzeko could leave this month, with this report saying an agent has now swooped in to try and take advantage of Dzeko’s reported unrest in the Italian capital.

Indeed, he has allegedly ‘offered’ the 34-year-old to West Ham in this potential bid to orchestrate a January deal, gifting the Irons a chance to land his signing.

Having plenty of experience in the Premier League and that very top level, Dzeko could be a viable option for Moyes and co – with West Ham cult hero Paolo Di Canio certainly rating him.

In an interview with Sky Sports recently (via Area Napoli.it), Di Canio lavished Roma’s forward with praise – branding him an ‘extraordinary player’.

This theory is supported by the fact, despite his age, Dzeko has still managed 7 goals in 14 Serie A starts this season – winning 3.1 aerial duels per 90 and attempting 2.7 shots a game on average (WhoScored).

Time will tell whether GSB take advantage of this apparent situation, but if they do, it could certainly be worth their efforts as the final stretch of this window nears.

In goal, Scott Bain should keep his place after coming into the starting line-up for Vasilis Barkas last time out.

The defence could see some key personnel changes, however, with new signing Jonjoe Kenny in line to make his debut at right-back, and Stephen Welsh surely now pushing for an opportunity in the side – it would only be his third start in the league this season.

In midfield, Mohamed Elyounoussi could be the one man to drop out, with Ryan Christie making his return to the team after being dropped from the line-up for the clash against Hamilton a week ago.

Ao LANCE!Net, o ex-executivo do futebol da Ponte Preta disse que a solução seria enxugar o calendário do próximo ano, com estaduais mais curtos.

– Os estaduais tornam o calendário desumano, mas ele serve para atender muitos interesses políticos, o que dificulta que qualquer sacrifício seja feito – ponderou Ocimar.
