England’s captain, Charlotte Edwards, has won the Women’s Cricketer of the Year award at the ICC Awards ceremony in Dubai.During the voting period Edwards opened the batting in 18 ODIs for England, scoring 492 runs at an average of 54.66. She also took 15 wickets at 19.03 with her more-than-useful leg-spin.In the only Test match she played during the voting period, Edwards scored 94 and 14 not out as England beat Australia by six wickets at Bowral, New South Wales.Edwards, 28, took the award ahead of her England team-mate Claire Taylor, as well as Nicola Browne of New Zealand and Australia’s Lisa Sthalekar.Accepting the award in Dubai from the former India captain, Ravi Shastri, Edwards said: “Winning the Ashes in Australia was the highlight of the year for me. It was a great feeling.”The ICC World Twenty20 is the talk of England at the moment and getting the chance to play in that alongside the guys is great for us. Before that, of course, we have the ICC Women’s World Cup in Australia so it’s a big year ahead for us.”This is a massive night for women’s cricket. وينتهي عقد محمد صلاح مع ليفربول في يونيو 2023، وحتى الآن، لم يتوصل الطرفان لاتفاق يقتضي باستمرار المصري الدولي رغم أهميته بالنسبة للمدير الفني، يورجن كلوب.

ولكن يعتقد كامبل أن محمد صلاح وليفربول سيتوصلان لاتفاق في الفترة المقبلة ليبقى في “أنفيلد” بعد عام 2023.

وتابع: “يتعين على كلا الطرفين التوصل إلى حل وسط، إنهما بحاجة إلى إبرام اتفاق يناسب الجميع”.

وأضاف: “محمد صلاح لاعب كبير، لاعب مهم جدًا في ليفربول، لقد كان متألقًا في الموسم الماضي”.

وواصل تصريحاته: “لا أرى أنها مشكلة، اعتقد حقًا أنهم سيتوصلون إلى اتفاق”.

واستمر: “الشيء المضحك، أنهما إذا لم يتوصلا إلى اتفاق وانتهى عقده، فهذا لا يعني أنه سيغادر النادي”.

Mas o assunto na entrevista coletiva após a atividade não teve ligação com a partida. Anderson Barros, gerente de futebol do clube, foi quem atendeu a imprensa depois das declarações dadas por Rodrigo à TV Globo na última quarta-feira. O dirigente cruz-maltino disse que o zagueiro, hoje na Ponte Preta, foi desrespeitoso e garantiu a permanência de Nenê no Vasco, ao contrário do afirmado por Rodrigo.

– Rodrigo encerrou um ciclo, na nossa opinião. Comunicamos respeitosamente. Respeitamos a parte contratual. Achei as palavras desrespeitosas e deselegantes. Não tinha o direito. Muitas coisas colocadas não são verdadeiras. O Vasco está acima de tudo. Eu não me importo com as declarações, apenas com o que estamos fazendo, com o que achamos que é o melhor para o clube. O Vasco tem uma estrutura definida, com presidente, vice-presidente e um gerente de futebol. Todas as decisões são encaminhadas com essa hierarquia. Isso é muito claro. No caso deste atleta, o clube tomou a decisão que tinha que ser tomada. Tínhamos motivos e razões – afirmou Anderson Barros antes de completar sobre Nenê:

Vale lembrar que Rodrigo, durante a entrevista para a rede de televisão, afirmou que Nenê teria o mesmo futuro do que ele no Vasco. O zagueiro saiu chateado com a situação em São Januário e ainda falou de uma conversa que teve com o meia antes de se desligar do Cruz-Maltino há cerca de duas semanas. Ainda relacionou ao fato de Nenê, no último jogo do Vasco, disputado contra o Bahia no domingo passado, ter ficado no banco de reservas pela primeira vez por opção técnica desde que chegou ao clube em 2015:

– Não tenho dúvidas que encaminha para acontecer o que aconteceu comigo, com o Nenê. Isso até antes… Quando muda um pouco o ambiente, quando as pessoas mudam um pouco com você, você sabe que está acontecendo alguma coisa diferente. Wolves are looking to make more signings before the transfer window closes next week, journalist Luke Hatfield has told Football FanCast.

It has been a pretty quiet window for Wolves so far, with the arrival of goalkeeper Jose Sa to replace Rui Patricio and permanent signing of Rayan Ait-Nouri probably their main pieces of business.

Most of the transfer talk at Wolves this summer has been dominated by current players Ruben Neves and Adama Traore, who both continue to be linked with moves away from Molineux.

According to Fabrizio Romano (via The Here We Go Podcast), Neves is one name on a list of midfielders Manchester United are looking at. Meanwhile, The Telegraph are reporting that Tottenham are hoping to sign Traore on a loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer.

And Hatfield has spoken to FFC about that potential loan deal and Wolves’ overall plans for the rest of the month.

“The deal with a loan with a view, I don’t think it would work for Wolves,” the Express & Star reporter said. “They’d be losing a very good player, or one of their best players, for essentially a very small fee right now.

“It would give them very little money to play with in terms of this window when they are looking to make signings before this window closes.”

It is shaping up to be an exciting deadline day at Wolves, with it certainly looking like they could get some last-minute deals done.

Australia have experienced another disruption in their preparation for thefirst Test with Michael Clarke missing training on Tuesday due to astomach illness. Clarke, who is still expected to play, scored a centuryon debut in Bangalore four years ago and his presence is essential for theAustralians as the vice-captain, experienced batsman and crucial spinoption.The tourists’ slow bowling stocks are low, with Cameron White replacingBryce McGain and Jason Krejza the other option. I think I’ve done a good job with the team while I’ve had it.”Johnson was often preferred by Ponting during the 2007-08 season, but Clark looms as a more consistent danger and finished the West Indies series as Lee’s partner. He has been given first use of the ball in only eight innings and his tight line and sharp bounce make him a difficult prospect early in a spell.”Brett comes on for the shock value, I do the other sort of stuff, and try to build it up from one end and get some wickets,” he said. “I do the more consistent job. If we get an opening, Brett’s the guy that can come on and really exploit that.”Clark spoke to Glenn McGrath before he left Australia and he also expects to talk with Michael Kasprowicz and Jason Gillespie, who are about to play in the Indian Cricket League, about bowling in India. As the into-the-wind man, Clark knows the difficulty of the assignment.”You don’t get a lot of love back from the wicket,” he said. “It can be hard work. Kasprowicz did it well and just bowled all day, losing 8kg, that sort of thing. That’s the secret, you’ve got to do it all day. You can’t shirk that responsibility.The bowlers will attempt to replicate the success of their plans in 2004, when they aimed more at the wickets while trying to get bowleds, lbws and close-in catches. “I think that will be successful if we implement it again.”

Leeds United pundit Joe Wainman insists that the club need to bring in two more signings before the transfer deadline.

The club have been relatively quiet in this transfer window, with Junior Firpo, Jack Harrison, and the goalkeeper Krisoffer Klaesson.

Wainman, though, insists that more depth is needed in Marcelo Bielsa’s squad if they are to properly compete at the highest level of the Premier League.

Bielsa has previously claimed that he does not expect the club to do any more business.

But Wainman believes that both a central midfielder and a winger are required, especially after Ian Poveda was allowed to move to Blackburn Rovers on loan.

Wainman has previously claimed that a new left-back was also required, but he believes that the signing of Firpo from Barcelona has gone some way to plugging that gap.

Asked about whether the club still needed new acquisitions ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline, he said: “Central midfield and winger, in that order. I think left-back, we’ve brought Firpo in, my worry is obviously if we were to get an injury but we can move people about, which isn’t ideal, but we definitely need another midfielder and another winger option now that Poveda’s gone on loan to Blackburn.

“We do need something there.”
