O Santos, sua comissão técnica e seus torcedores sabem que as perdas no setor ofensivo da equipe são bastante significativas, e apesar do acerto encaminhado com Eduardo Sasha, ainda há a necessidade de suprir as lacunas deixadas principalmente por Ricardo Oliveira e Lucas Lima, mas também por Kayke e até Thiago Ribeiro. O consolo, por enquanto, é a permanência de Bruno Henrique, o melhor e mais participativo jogador de ataque em 2017.

Para tentar explicar em números a importância dos jogadores que não continuaram no Peixe, recorremos às estatísticas do Footstats para quantificar a participação desses jogadores nos gols marcados durante toda a temporada 2017. Juntos, Oliveira, Lucas, Kayke e Thiago foram responsáveis diretos por 42 dos 91 tentos santistas, o que representa 46% do total, ou seja, quase a metade.

Lucas Lima, que foi contratado pelo Palmeiras após o término de seu contrato com o Santos, anotou três gols e deu assistência para outros 17. Sozinho, teve participação direta em 20 tentos, 22% do total. Já Ricardo Oliveira balançou a rede 12 vezes e deu passe para dois gols, curiosamente os dois para Bruno Henrique. Foram 14 tentos que passaram diretamente pelo ex-camisa 9, agora no Galo.

Kayke, que retornou ao Yokohama Marinos, do Japão, após empréstimo, marcou nove gols e deu duas assistências, ao todo 11 bolas na rede foram de sua responsabilidade. Thiago Ribeiro, outro que deixou o clube em fim de contrato, com influência bem menor, mas ainda assim membro do elenco de ataque, antou dois tentos e não deu passes para gol.

A soma dos números de cada um, nesse caso, resultaria em 47 gols com participação dos quatro jogadores citados acima, porém foram filtrados aqueles em que há interação entre eles. Por exemplo: Kayke deu assistência para Lucas Lima marcar um gol. Nessa situação, em que o contexto é da influência da participação conjunta desses jogadores, conta-se apenas um tento. Esse tipo de interação aconteceu mais quatro vezes. Lucas deu três assistências para Oliveira e uma para Kayke.

Embora esses dados sejam relevantes e indiquem a necessidade de reposição, o Santos pode comemorar e muito a permanência de Bruno Henrique no ataque da equipe. Isso porque o jogador que chegou ao clube no início de 2017, marcou 18 gols e deu passe para outros 13, ou seja, participou de 31 dos 91 tentos do time no ano, o que siginifica aproximadamente 34% do total. A cada três gols que o Peixe marcou na temporada passada, um teve participação direta do camisa 27.

Para o setor ofensivo, o Peixe ainda conta com Jean Mota, Rafael Longuine, Vitor Bueno, Vecchio, Léo Cittadini, Serginho e Vladimir Hernández, como opções para o meio, além de Arthur Gomes, Copete e Rodrigão para o ataque. Ainda há a possibilidade de utilização dos jovens Yuri Alberto e Rodrygo.

What’s the word?

That’s according to Eurosport transfer insider Dean Jones, who delivered a pretty big bombshell to GIVEMESPORT this week, where he revealed:

“They have huge ambition and they’re going to be big hitters – they feel – in the transfer market, maybe from the summer.

“They certainly will be by this time next year.

“They think they can be going for some big names, but they couldn’t really buy those players in January.”

Time will tell

It remains to be seen exactly who the Yorkshire giants could target heading into next season, especially with uncertainty in the dugout. Marcelo Bielsa’s contract is set to expire and there is yet to be any indication whether he will stay or leave.

That makes recruitment somewhat harder for Victor Orta as he’ll need to sign the right players for whoever is in charge of the Whites.

One name that seems certain to join is RB Salzburg midfielder Brenden Aaronson as the club looks to tap into the American market with a hugely promising midfielder. TEAMtalk believe Leeds are confident of tying up a deal despite having two bids rejected in January.

That influence from across the pond from the San Francisco 49ers Enterprises could play a big part in the aforementioned transfer plans as they have the financial clout to make substantial moves in the transfer market, whereas current chairman Andrea Radrizzani doesn’t.

As of November 2021, the group have increased their share of the club to 44%, so it’s only a matter of time before they take over fully from the Italian supremo.

Either way, you’d have to say it’s an exciting time to be a Leeds supporter right now and this “huge” claim from Jones is only going to raise expectations and enthusiasm heading into the rest of 2022.

The Elland Road faithful must be thrilled by this update.

Cricket Australia have set themselves an “ironclad” rule that their World Cup squad won’t have its preparation hampered by a proposed new two-innings one-day format. The new game is likely to be trialled in state cricket this summer, while Australia’s one-day specialists are involved in the home ODI series.England and South Africa already play 40 overs instead of 50 in their domestic one-day tournaments but two innings is another step away from the existing format. Michael Hussey, who will be a key part of Australia’s bid to win a fourth successive World Cup, said he wanted to stick with 50-over cricket.”I know in England they play a 40-over competition,” Hussey said on the Melbourne radio station SEN. “I’m personally not a fan of it. In international cricket you play 50 overs and with the World Cup it’s 50 over cricket and in Australia we’re hosting a World Cup in 2015.”I’m really keen to stick with the 50-over format. It is a lot different. That extra 10 overs is a lot different in the way you go about the game and I’d like to see us stick to the 50-over format.”The World Cup on the subcontinent in February and March will also be a special time for Mitchell Johnson, who was part of winning squad in 2007 but did not get the chance to play a game. He said his focus was squarely on the 50-over version heading in to the title defence.”We’ve got the 50-over World Cup coming up and I’m really looking forward to that, it’s a big deal for me,” Johnson said on the Sydney radio station 2UE. “I still enjoy playing 50-over cricket. Obviously it’s been a bit of a problem over the last couple of years, a lot of talk about it and how we can improve it. The regular 50-over FR Cup will still be played at the start of the summer and a Cricket Australia spokesman said any trial would not be allowed to compromise Australia’s World Cup preparations.”Basically the trial will all happen at times when those [World Cup] players have international commitments,” the spokesman told the . “At any time they are going anywhere near interstate cricket, interstate cricket will be the traditional 50-over format. That’s one of the ironclad rules of engagement for this project. Don’t do anything that messes around with the four-in-a-row mantra.”

Leeds United will still be without Patrick Bamford on their return to Premier League action this week.

What’s the latest?

The Yorkshire giants head to the Midlands to face Aston Villa on Wednesday night for what will be their first outing since the 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United two-and-a-half weeks ago.

“Bamford has not improved and still struggles with the problem in the bottom of his foot,” revealed BBC journalist Adam Pope following Marcelo Bielsa’s press conference, where the Argentine head coach expressed his worry about the 28-year-old’s injury.

“He hasn’t played for 15 games now, how can I not worry?” he said.

“He continues with the problems at the bottom of his foot and he hasn’t started jogging. His situation continues the same way and we can’t predict when he will return because it depends on the pain going away so he can start jogging again.

“Since the injury started the pain hasn’t gone away.”

Hammer blow

It’s the England international’s third different problem this season, something that has kept him out for 17 of their last 18 league games.

Indeed, since the middle of September, he has played only 22 minutes when he came on as a substitute to score a very important equaliser against Brentford on December 5th.

Of course, this has evidently left Bielsa concerned, if not absolutely furious as he continues to be without last season’s top goalscorer. His presence up top has been sorely missed, largely due to the lack of alternatives.

Bielsa does not have another senior striker at the club, leaving him with the choice of deploying a winger – as he has done with Daniel James – or young forward Joe Gelhardt up top.

LeedsLive journalist Conor McGilligan has since described the situation as a “hammer blow.”

“He’s only played five games. Came back for Brentford, scored, which was brilliant. Then got injured in the celebration, which was typical. So he’s going to be out for this game [vs Villa]. His foot injury is reoccurring. Apparently, there’s no signs of improvement there, which is a hammer blow.”

Last term, Bamford played in every single league game on his way to 17 goals, now without him, Bielsa has had to rely on Raphinha to front up the burden of their attacking exploits as he leads in pretty much every metric, ranging from goals (eight) to creating key passes (2.1 per game).

This is definitely a gutting update to hear. Bamford’s return is a mystery and it’ll seemingly continue to be that way over the coming matches. A bitter blow to Bielsa and the squad, that’s for sure.

O Vasco já começa a contar com “sangue novo” para a temporada de 2018. A atividade desta segunda-feira foi marcada pela presença de jogadores que defenderam o clube na Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior.

Além do meia Robinho, participaram do treino comandado por Zé Ricardo outros seis jogadores. O goleiro Alexsander, o lateral-direito Rafael França, o volante Rodrigo, o meia Dudu e os atacantes Marrony e Hugo Borges. Da equipe que atuou na Copinha ainda está o elenco principal os zagueiros Miranda e Ulisses.

Everton correspondent Patrick Boyland has described an injury update on Abdoulaye Doucoure as ‘massive’ for Frank Lampard.

The 43-year-old was won two and lost one of his three games in charge of the Toffees so far and has been unable to call upon the midfielder as of yet.

Less than 100 general reserve seats remained on Friday afternoon for the series start at the Gabba on November 25, but there is still plenty of space available for Boxing Day in Melbourne.The first three days in Perth, which hosts the third Test, are full along with the opening day of the final match in Sydney. James Sutherland, the Cricket Australia chief executive, said it was important for supporters to get in quickly to avoid missing out.”There was ticket sales hysteria around the 2006-07 series and while we haven’t quite reached those levels, ticket sales remain strong,” Sutherland said. “There are very few tickets remaining for the opening one or two days of play across all Tests.”Seats went on sale two weeks ago for Australian Cricket Family members and were released to the general public over the past week. England holds the Ashes after their 2-1 win last year and are looking for revenge after losing 5-0 in Australia in 2006-07.
