More wait for Lalit Modi•Indian Premier League
The BCCI and suspended IPL chairman Lalit Modi will each have the opportunity to present witnesses over the course of six future hearings scheduled by the board’s disciplinary committee at its meeting in New Delhi on Sunday. The board will get its chance to do so from September 13th through September 15th while Modi will get his turn from September 26th through September 28th.”It is agreed that the BCCI would submit a list of witnesses along with their witness statement on or before 7th September 2010, with advance copy to counsels of Mr. Modi,” the board said in a statement. “It will be the responsibilities of the BCCI to make these witnesses available for cross-examination by the counsels of Mr. Modi.”Once the BCCI has finished presenting its evidence, Modi’s lawyers will have a week to file their list of witnesses and their statements, and make the witnesses available for cross-examination on the dates set by the committee. The two sides also have to submit a list of documents belonging to the other party that they dispute by the same September 7 deadline. The hearings will be held at the Taj Palace hotel in New Delhi. They will be split into two sessions, the first from 10.00 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the second from 6.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.Modi’s legal counsel Mehmood Abdi said he also had the option of taking the matter to the High Court once the disciplinary proceedings concluded. At its last hearing on August 11, the committee rejected a request by Modi asking for interim IPL chairman Chirayu Amin and BCCI vice-president Arun Jaitley to recuse themselves from the proceedings on grounds that they were biased against him.The committee has until October 26 to submit its recommendations to the board. The BCCI suspended Modi immediately following the conclusion of IPL 3 in April and charged him with financial irregularities relating to the bidding process for IPL franchises, the mid-over ad sales and the sale of theatrical rights. He was also charged with colluding to set up a parallel league in England.

O Corinthians volta a treinar nesta sexta-feita à tarde no CT Joaquim Grava. A atividade deve ser mais leve devido o desgaste da viagem. Só no sábado o técnico Carille deve fazer os ajustes para a partida de domingo.

There have been only two inconsequential games in this Champions League. Central Districts and Wayamba, two teams that have already been knocked out, clash at Port Elizabeth in the second such match.

How competitive this year’s tournament has been can be gauged from the fact that it has taken the last league fixture in each group to decide the semi-finalists. That has resulted in very few inconsequential games, in fact, only two. Central Districts and Wayamba, both of whom have already been knocked out, clash at Port Elizabeth in the second such match.Of the three sides that have lost all their games to this point, Central Districts have been the most impressive, but a lack of depth has hurt them. Jamie How, the captain, has been inspirational, being dismissed once in three innings for his 178 runs. However, he has lacked support, with Kieran Noema-Barnett’s 66 runs coming a distant second-best. All the bowlers have leaked runs, which has meant that when the batsmen have put up competitive scores, like they did against Victoria and Warriors, the chasing side has been under no pressure.Wayamba’s struggles have been well documented. The insipid manner in which they have played their cricket has given some the feeling they are in South Africa only to make up the numbers. A squad that boasts of eleven players with international experience had no business losing three consecutive matches without putting up a semblance of a fight. They will start as underdogs in this battle to avoid the wooden spoon in Group A.Team newsDoug Bracewell was smashed all around the ground by the Warriors. Left-arm pacer Mitchell McClenaghan could get a game in his place. Peter Ingram, meanwhile, has made six runs in three innings. Will How persist with his opening partner?
Central Districts: (possible) 1 Peter Ingram, 2 Jamie How (capt), 3 Brad Patton, 4 Mathew Sinclair, 5 George Worker, 6 Kieran Noema-Barnett, 7 Brendon Diamanti, 8 Bevan Griggs/Tim Weston (wk), 9 Doug Bracewell/ Mitchell McClenaghan, 10 Adam Milne, 11 Michael MasonFarveez Maharoof, if he has recovered from injury, should replace Chanaka Welegedera who has gone for almost eleven runs an over in the tournament.Wayamba: (possible) 1 Mahela Jayawardene, 2 Jeevantha Kulatunga, 3 Mahela Udawatte, 4 Jehan Mubarak (capt), 5 Kushal Perera (wk), 6 Shalika Karunanayake, 7 Thisara Perera, 8 Farveez Maharoof, 9 Isuru Udana, 10 Rangana Herath, 11 Ajantha MendisWatch out for …Mahela Jayawardene was Wayamba’s highest run-scorer in the Sri Lankan domestic Twenty20 event. He will fancy his chances against Central Districts’ weak bowling attack, after showing glimpses of his silken touch against Victoria.
Jamie How has been another one of the successful batsmen-captains in the tournament and will be crucial to his team’s fortunes again.Key contestsWayamba spinners v Central Districts batsmen: Both Victoria and Warriors struggled to score against Ajantha Mendis and Rangana Herath, and it will be interesting to see how the New Zealand batsmen tackle them.Stats and triviaDoug Bracewell’s return of 1 for 54 off 3.1 overs against Warriors is the most expensive in this Champions League.Five Wayamba batsmen were out without scoring against Victoria. Only Kenya and Zimbabwe have managed more ducks in a T20 innings.Quotes”We had two good warm-up games. Ever since then we haven’t been able to string two or three decent partnerships with the bat which is vital in T20 cricket.”
Financial expert Kieran Maguire has reacted to the incoming changes in Financial Fair Play regulations and the impact they may have on Celtic and Dermot Desmond.
The lowdown: Changes afoot
European football’s governing body UEFA announced that over the coming years clubs will only be permitted to spend 70 per cent or less of their total revenue on player transfers, agent fees and wages, albeit the changes will come into force incrementally.
There are also reported plans to adopt a ‘Swiss model’ to the UEFA Champions League whereby two additional places could be awarded based on historical standings and increased revenues handed out to those sides in the competition.

As the Hoops aim to earn an automatic spot in the group stage amongst Europe’s elite for the first time since 2017/18 by lifting the Scottish Premiership title, these new rules could have an impact at Parkhead.
The latest: Maguire delivers promising verdict
Speaking to Football Insider, Maguire, a finance expert and contributor for Sky Sports suggested that Desmond and co. will fare well under the new FFP guidelines.
“Celtic are in a very strong position with regards to the new rules.
“They don’t have issues in terms of wage control. Celtic’s wages to turnover ratio in the three years pre-Covid was 58 per cent, 58 per cent and 67 per cent.
“They have three years to taper their outlay accordingly as well because the new rules, while radical, are being phased in gradually.
“Uefa’s calculation also takes into consideration not the whole staff, but only the playing staff and the first-team coach.
“Celtic are certainly in a strong position to deal with that. They don’t often make losses either, so there won’t be an issue there.”
The verdict: Good news
As ever with anything involving finances and changes in regulations, there is always a fear that it could adversely impact off-field matters.
However, such is Maguire’s expertise in this area that Celtic supporters can breathe a sigh of relief that not only will the club circumvent any issues, but life at Lennoxtown and beyond could even improve.
As the board weigh up whether or not to back Ange Postecoglou in the upcoming summer transfer window, financial foresight like this and the potential incoming windfall from Champions League qualification may further bolster the budget.

Zulqarnain Haider, the Pakistan wicketkeeper who fled Dubai for London after receiving threats, has announced his retirement
ESPNcricinfo staff09-Nov-2010Zulqarnain Haider, the Pakistan wicketkeeper who fled Dubai for London after receiving threats, has announced his retirement. Haider, 24, went missing from the team hotel on the morning of Pakistan’s fifth ODI against South Africa in Dubai and resurfaced in London later the same day. He was said to be seeking some sort of protection in the UK after he was threatened by unidentified people following his team’s one-wicket win in the fourth ODI against South Africa.
Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has addressed the absence of Nir Bitton from the matchday squad in the Hoops’ 2-0 victory over Ross County on Sunday.
The lowdown: Bitton’s importance to Celtic
The 30-year-old has endured an injury-ravaged time at Parkhead, missing 99 matches in a nine-year stint as a Bhoy with varying degrees of problems including a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a serious knee issue.
Despite the injuries, the Israel international has still amassed 269 appearances for the Hoops and has been a favourite of several managers at Parkhead over the years.

Following the player’s latest non-appearance, Postecoglou has explained the situation surrounding the defensive midfielder…
The latest: ‘Slight issue’ for Bitton
Speaking to BBC, as quoted by the Daily Record, the 56-year-old has revealed the latest on the Israelim saying: “He’s got a bit of an issue. A slight issue.”
Bitton has not been seen in action since a fleeting 28-minute appearance in the 2-1 win over Rangers at Ibrox on April 3, having been an unused substitute in the subsequent 7-0 rout of St Johnstone.
The verdict: Worrying signs
Although Postecoglou seems undeterred by Bitton’s latest issue, unfortunately the problems keep mounting up for the 39-cap ace.
So far this season, the man who has been described as ‘fantastic’ by the Celtic manager has scored twice and provided two assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
With Bitton out of contract in 2023 (Transfermarkt), the upcoming summer is a pivotal one for him, as the experienced midfielder will likely be hoping to receive a new deal, whilst the club could be considering selling him in order to avoid losing their man for nothing.
To that end, the Israeli will be desperate to play a part in this season’s run-in to try and secure a new contract.
