Tottenham Hotspur remain one of only two unbeaten sides in the Premier League at this point in the season. The Lilywhites, alongside North London rivals Arsenal, have got off to a blistering start, defeating the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool. With every week, the appointment of Ange Postecoglou looks more and more like Daniel Levy's first act of genius since welcoming Mauricio Pochettino all those years ago.
Whilst in a position of strength, Spurs must take advantage, both on and off the pitch. On the pitch, they have the chance to begin the cycle of creating history. Meanwhile, away from the flawless turf at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, they could return to the transfer market to welcome one particular rising star.
Spurs transfer news
Spurs' start becomes all the more impressive when you consider the exit of record goalscorer Harry Kane in the summer. The England international swapped North London for Bayern Munich in the hope of finally ending his search for silverware. His former club, meanwhile, spent their newfound riches on the arrivals of players such as James Maddison, Brennan Johnson, and Micky van de Ven.
Now, however, the latest Kerem Akturkoglu transfer news suggests that Levy could make his move for the winger. According to Milliyet, Spurs sent scouts to watch the Galatasaray man in his side's 2-1 victory over Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig. The Premier League side were reportedly not alone in their scouting, however, with Atletico Madrid also sending officials to watch Akturkoglu.
It remains to be seen whether Spurs will push ahead with a deal to sign the 25-year-old. If the scout reports come back and highlight a number of positives, then he may well find himself on Levy's shortlist for either January or next summer's transfer window.
Who is Kerem Akturkoglu?
Now 25, Akturkoglu's appearances have seen him become Mr Consistent at Galatasaray. He has featured in 129 of his last 133 possible matches for both his club and the Turkish national team. Availability can mean more than most traits these days, too, given the incredible number of games that sides play week in, week out. The winger has the ability to go with that injury-free run, too.
Akturkoglu's stats also speak for themselves. The winger has gotten off to a flying start for Galatasaray on that front this season, recording 12 goal involvements in just 17 games, having scored five and assisted a further seven. It is the type of numbers that Maddison has been applauded for at Spurs, which only makes the mind wonder just how clinical both the England international and current Spurs target could be together.
Postecoglou certainly has a lot to think about if Levy is willing to sanction a deal. As things stand, Richarlison and Johnson share the role on the left of the attacking quartet in North London, but the arrival of Akturkoglu could change that. The Galatasaray man has more than done enough so far this season to warrant a move in the next two transfer windows, so it could be one to watch.
Leeds United got back to winning ways with a narrow victory over relegation strugglers Queen's Park Rangers on Wednesday evening, with the Whites bouncing back following their limp display away to Southampton at the weekend.
The Yorkshire giants had been ripped apart during a dismal opening half an hour or so at St Mary's just a few days earlier, yet it was Daniel Farke's men who delivered the early blow this time around, with fleet-footed Dutchman, Crysencio Summerville lashing home inside nine minutes.
Despite dominating proceedings from then on – after enjoying 65% possession in total – that early effort from Summerville ultimately proved to be the game's deciding goal, with any hope of a late comeback from the visitors having been quashed by Asmir Begovic's dismissal at the death.
How did Crysencio Summerville perform against QPR?
The Rotterdam native took his goal superbly after impressive work from Georginio Rutter down the left flank, with the club's record signing picking out the 21-year-old with a clever threaded pass, as Summerville duly converted past a helpless Begovic.
That composed finish – which took the youngster's tally to two goals for the season so far in all competitions – came amid what was a "terrific" first-half performance from the winger, as per journalist Graham Smyth, as he proved a real livewire on the flanks.
Leeds duo Daniel Farke and Crysencio Summerville.
That all-round performance was evidenced by the fact that the Netherlands U21 international registered three key passes in total in his 80-minute outing, with that only bettered by the aforementioned Rutter (four) among players for both sides.
While that did see Summerville lose possession on 14 occasions, his desire to impact proceedings in the final third was evident as he completed four of his seven attempted crosses as well as two of his four attempted dribbles, having also won four fouls for his side.
The only possible concern was that the 5 foot 6 speedster wasn't able to maintain his level of performance as he 'went off the boil' just before the interval – as per Leeds Live's Beren Cross – with Farke having been reliant on other key figures to step up instead, such as summer signing, Ethan Ampadu.
How did Ampadu perform against QPR?
The former Chelsea man – who arrived on a £7m deal from the Stamford Bridge outfit – was at his composed and brilliant best against Gareth Ainsworth's side last night, having been 'so calm on the ball' in the centre of the park, in the words of Cross.
Also dubbed "excellent" by The Athletic's Phil Hay for the manner in which he is able to bail his side out of trouble, the Wales international was a typically dogged and determined performer at the base of the midfield after winning eight of his 13 total duels.
While, like Summerville, Ampadu did have a few lapses of concentration after losing possession 17 times throughout the contest, the 23-year-old did also created one big chance from his deep-lying berth, as well as outlining his ability to spray the ball about with ease as he completed six of his nine long balls.
The 92-touch maestro simply brought so much 'control with and without the ball' – according to Cross – with Farke having been in need of that stable presence to help keep the away side at bay, with things not totally clicking in the attacking ranks.
Ampadu's importance to that much-needed win was also laid bare by his match rating of 7.7, as per Sofascore, with that having been the highest of any player for either side – even ahead of goalscorer, Summerville (7.4).
That only serves to rubberstamp what was another classy showing from the emerging hero at Elland Road, proving just why he could be crucial in Leeds' promotion push this season.

Sancho put in an impressive shift in attack
Scored his first-ever UCL knockout goal
Luuk de Jong's poor finishing sank PSV

TELL ME MORE
The hosts deservedly got their noses in front just three minutes into the match after being held to a 1-1 draw in the Netherlands two weeks back. Sancho looked in inspired form right from the off and his strike from outside the box had laser-like precision. He caressed the ball with a deft first touch, was allowed the time to take aim and unleashed a shot that went through the legs of a defender and rippled the net. The goal gave Dortmund a shot in the arm, and if Niclas Fullkrug was a bit more clinical then the home side would have been 2-0 up within the first 20 minutes.
PSV started to grow in the final 10 minutes of the first half and were a completely different side in the second 45 minutes. The introduction of Hirving Lozano sparked them into life but they were profligate in front of goal, which did not help their cause. Luuk de Jong missed a late sitter, and to compound his misery, Marco Reus struck at the other end just seconds later to put the tie to bed.

DID YOU KNOW?
It was Sancho's first-ever goal in a Champions League knockout stage game. He has seven strikes and six assists in 30 appearances in the competition.
THE MVP
Sancho played with confidence and had an assertive attitude that was largely missing during his spell with Manchester United. He slalomed down the left wing time and again, dribbled past defenders, cut inside and even tracked back while Dortmund were mostly chasing the ball in the second half. A solid 73 minutes until he walked off gingerly before being replaced by Reus.

THE BIG LOSER
De Jong must take his fair share of the blame after PSV drew a blank, despite being the better side for the bulk of the second period. The Dutch striker was an anonymous figure throughout the match, struggled to get into goal-scoring positions and his finishing was way off the mark. In fact, the best chance of the game fell for him deep in stoppage time but he skied it over the crossbar.
Arsenal boast a rich history littered with star-studded names, all of whom have contributed to their sustained stay at the apex of English football.
However, towards the back end of Arsene Wenger's stunning reign and as Unai Emery took his place, that position faltered.
The Spaniard endured a torrid period in charge, filled with media mockery and transfer missteps, resulting in his dismissal and returning them back to square one. David Moyes had proved just how difficult it could be to take the place of a departing legend, with the ongoing struggles felt at Manchester United still shrouding Old Trafford today.
So, that makes Mikel Arteta's efforts all the more impressive, having come in, acted with incision, and enjoyed a truly enthralling title battle last term with one of the greatest club sides in history.
They will be hoping to go one step further than their second-place finish this season, and are currently one of just two sides who remain unbeaten in the Premier League.
Looking back on their legends of the past, the Gunners will hope to inherit the spirit of their 2004 invincibles and emulate their unprecedented success. Although Thierry Henry stole the headlines for his offensive work, whilst Sol Campbell remained a rock at the back, it was Dennis Bergkamp who is remembered with similar fondness to the former, who is widely recognised as the club's and the division's greatest-ever player.
How good was Dennis Bergkamp?
Having joined from Inter Milan in 1995, there was much excitement surrounding his arrival, as an experienced international star with his best years ahead of him.
The Gunners had endured a slump in the mid-1990s, and were seeking to emerge from it with success. The fleet-footed genius was expected to be a spearhead to provoke such change, and upon Wenger's appointment, that vision was realised.
He was promoted to be their most influential player, with much of their attacking play surging through his magic feet. This saw him earn praise in 1998, claiming the PFA Player of the Year Award, before going on to win three English league titles alongside four FA Cups.
Nowadays, Bergkamp is widely regarded as one of the most talented players of his generation, with the bulk of his success actually earned in north London. Wenger has remained one of his biggest fans years on, having first noted in 2003: "Dennis has made an immense contribution to the club, not only as a great player but also as a great example and he's shown that again.
"I can't believe how quickly he has scored his 100 goals as all of his goals have been sensational."

That latter notion is one absolutely supported by his fine repertoire of finishes, the pinnacle of which came against Newcastle United in 2002.
As Robert Pires fired a ball infield, slightly behind his magic teammate, the former Ajax superstar would take the deftest of touches around the onrushing Nikos Dabizas, pushing the ball left as he spun right. His grace would then turn into strength, fending off the desperate defender to finish coolly past Shay Given.
If one moment could sum up Bergkamp's Arsenal career, it would be that goal. Merely a footnote in his stunning spell at Highbury, he will forever be remembered as a legend by the Gunners faithful.
However, there was actually a moment during that lull at the end of Wenger's reign where they nearly captured a successor, and arguably an improvement on the magisterial maestro.
After all, for all the skill and elegance of the 79-cap gem, he cannot compare to the pure supreme efficiency of Karim Benzema – who was the subject of interest from those at the Emirates in 2015, with even a £48m bid having been mooted at the time.
Did Arsenal nearly sign Karim Benzema?
Wenger would be the man to admit their transfer failure, speaking to beIN SPORTS regarding their interest in the Frenchman, who went on to become a legend in his own right at Real Madrid.
With the former Lyon man having grown into one of the world's finest marksmen, the competition for a starting spot remained fierce with Gonzalo Higuain at the Bernabeu, which the legendary tactician had been made aware of.
Wenger would outline that in his interview when asked if he had tried to sign the forward: "Yes, because he was in competition with Higuain for a while. It was Higuain for three games, three games for Benzema. He played the game based on passing and connections, so he was an ideal player up front.

"He’s a striker who makes people around him better and sometimes you have strikers who score goals but they make players around them worse. He’s not one of them. If you put Benzema in the team, I would want to play with him."
As that link between the defence and attack, immediately the Bergkamp comparisons could emerge. However, the Dutchman could not compete with the goalscoring figures posted by the 97-cap finisher, who now plies his trade in Saudi Arabia.
How good is Karim Benzema?
Benzema's talent really needs no explaining, but to compare him with Bergkamp is to truly emphasise the true levels of his brilliance.
After all, merely sticking around at Real Madrid for 14 years is enough to outline his quality, as few boast such longevity at the pinnacle of football. The 35-year-old would feature 648 times for Los Blancos before his departure in the summer, having scored 354 goals and assisted a further 165.
Not only was he a mainstay across one of the club's most successful periods, leaving having won five Champions Leagues and four La Liga titles among numerous other domestic honours, but he also stepped up in Cristiano Ronaldo's departure, going on to win the Ballon d'Or for his outstanding 2022 performances.
Journalist Zach Lowy would even outline his performances with Lyon during the start of his career as "the making of a legend", which was a notion certainly supported by these figures.
Meanwhile, for all his talents, Bergkamp would only manage 267 goals and 132 assists across his entire career, figures that Benzema surpassed for one club alone.
The 6 foot 1 marksman could have proved revolutionary for Wenger during a period where the title was there for the taking, and had he moved to the Emirates, perhaps they would have been the recipient of his golden years.
As such, they were forced to endure a quality of player that cannot lace Benzema's boots, with some of their finest-ever stars failing to come close to the levels of the current Al-Ittihad ace.
The Australia allrounder leaves New South Wales with husband Matt Toomua signing on to play Rugby for the Melbourne Rebels
ESPNcricinfo staff06-Aug-2018Australia allrounder Ellyse Perry has confirmed she will leave her home team New South Wales to play state cricket for Victoria next year.Perry, who has been with the NSW side since 2007, will move to Melbourne at the end of the 2018-19 season with her husband Matt Toomua, a rugby player who has signed on to play for the Melbourne Rebels.”At the end of the day, it was really very much a personal decision for family life. The opportunity to play at NSW for the last decade or so has been an absolute honour,” Perry told .”Going back before that, playing all my junior cricket for NSW and their pathway programs, I was lucky to do that. I am very much an NSW girl. It is definitely sad but, at the same time, having played for a fairly long period now, it’s kind of invigorating to have a new opportunity and experience in a different state.”Perry still has two more years left on her contract with the NSW-based BBL franchise, the Sydney Sixers, and is keen to see that through.”A lot is changing because from next season the WBBL is moving to October-November,” she said. “I think that means that states that have two teams in the competition … whether or not you do your pre-season with the Big Bash team instead of your state program, there are quite a few unknowns. I haven’t thought about that.”I’ll wait and see how that looks but I have a lot of very strong ties to the Sixers and, particularly, the coach, Ben Sawyer, who I loved working with. I started with the Sixers in the first season, I feel very loyal to him as well and owe him a lot. There are a lot of things to consider. I probably wouldn’t think about it until I am off contract.”Perry had also opted not to return for the ongoing third season of the Kia Super League in England in order to spend some time at home, ahead of a packed summer playing cricket. Australia are scheduled to play a three-match T20I series against New Zealand and a series against Pakistan in the UAE before heading to the Caribbean in November for the World T20.
Turning their attention towards the summer transfer window, Brighton & Hove Albion are now reportedly keen on signing a key defensive addition ahead of rivals Crystal Palace.
Brighton transfer news
The Seagulls are once again back on track under Fabian Hurzeler after a 7-0 thrashing at the hands of Nottingham Forest sparked doubts over his Brighton future for the first time. Now three games without defeat following two victories in two games against Chelsea and a comfortable 4-0 thrashing of struggling Southampton, those at The Amex will have their sights set on the European places once again.
Crucially, after shipping seven at Forest, Brighton have conceded just once in their last three games in all competitions – keeping clean sheets against both Chelsea and Southampton last time out.
There will, of course, still be some concerns over the nature of that Forest defeat but such a thrashing represents a blip rather than a growing trend under Hurzeler at this stage. And it’s a blip which The Amex are unlikely to see again if the Seagulls welcome one particular summer target.
According to Graeme Bailey for The Boot Room, Brighton are now keen to sign Rav van den Berg ahead of arch-rivals Crystal Palace this summer. The Middlesbrough defender has impressed once again in the Championship this season even as Michael Carrick’s side continue to slip away from their play-off ambitions.

Brighton, meanwhile, could certainly do with a long-term replacement for Lewis Dunk which Van den Berg would instantly provide. At just 20 years old, the Dutchman would become the future of Hurzeler’s backline alongside January arrival Eiran Cashin. Dealing Palace a transfer blow also wouldn’t go amiss in Sussex this summer, either.
"Terrific" Van den Berg could replace Dunk
As important as Dunk is, there’s no escaping from the fact that he’s 33 years old and gradually moving past the peak of his powers as a result. It’s something that Brighton will not want to be underprepared for given just how difficult it will be to replace their captain, making Van den Berg’s arrival all the more crucial this summer.
Rav van den Berg in action for Middlesbrough in the FA Cup.
The 20-year-old has often found himself at the centre of praise throughout his time at Middlesbrough, including from Carrick. The Boro boss told reporters last season: “He’s a terrific individual, really grounded and humble, terrific character and great attitude. He has a real calming influence but quite sure of himself in a really good way.
“I think he told me he’d played right-back once before before Betis when Tommy got injured in pre-season. And he’s never played left-back in his life and ended up playing there against Sheffield Wednesday. He just has the ability to do that, he’s a really good footballer, he’s clever, sharp, hungry, he has a great attitude.”
A season on, Van den Berg has continued to impress and could yet have earned himself a move to the Premier League this summer as a result.
Matt Taylor led the way with four wickets as Gloucestershire recorded their second Specsavers County Championship win of the season with a 41-run success against Durham at Cheltenham

Somerset silence stubborn Worcestershire
ScorecardMatt Taylor led the way with four wickets as Gloucestershire recorded their second Specsavers County Championship win of the season with a 41-run success against Durham at Cheltenham. The left-arm seamer finished with 4 for 31 from 16 overs to help bowl out the visitors for 298, chasing a victory target of 340.Cameron Steel and Tom Latham gave Durham a promising start, but they wilted against Taylor, Craig Miles and Ryan Higgins on another sweltering afternoon and Mark Wood’s unbeaten 61 proved in vain.Gloucestershire took 23 points from their first Championship win since the opening round of fixtures, while their opponents had to be content with five after four days of tough and competitive cricket.Durham began the day on 35 without loss and enjoyed the better of the morning session. Latham and Steel took their opening stand to 94 against some accurate Gloucestershire bowling before Latham fenced at a ball from Matt Taylor and edged through to Gareth Roderick.Steel was unbeaten on 57 at lunch, with the total 121 for 1, but he when he perished in the second over after the interval, lbw to Miles falling across his stumps, it signalled a transformation in fortunes. Taylor and Higgins settled in to bowl probing spells from the Chapel End and College Lawn End respectively, tying the batsmen down and making vital breakthroughs.Higgins removed Graham Clark and Will Smith during a six-over spell that brought him 2 for 23, Clark falling to a fine full-length diving catch by Roderick and Smith pinned lbw.Taylor was equally impressive and claimed the key wicket of Ben Stokes, who had begun positively, but moved to only 9 before being bowled on the back foot. The same fate befell Stuart Poynter, on 8, and at 201 for 6, Durham still required a further 139.They were given renewed hope by Wood and Michael Richardson, who took the score to 226 for 6 at tea and continued to bat solidly in the final session. Wood was dropped on 18 by Miles Hammond at cover off Kieran Noema-Barnett and responded by hitting four fours in an over from Miles just before the second new ball.Richardson had helped add 59 when falling lbw for 26 looking to work Miles through the leg side. Soon it was 267 for 8 as Matt Salisbury was bowled on the back-foot by Miles for a single.Gloucestershire had their tails up, but while Wood was there Durham had a chance. He began to run out of partners when George Harding chipped a tame catch to midwicket off Taylor and departed for 7.Wood, who was able to bowl only six overs in the match because of a sore heel, moved to a defiant fifty off 74 balls, with nine fours. But when Chris Rushworth was caught behind to give Higgins his third wicket, Gloucestershire had won with 11 overs left in the day’s play.
