Beck will be suspended for Blackburn's clash with QPR this weekend. He will hope to make an impression when he returns as he looks to impress his Liverpool bosses.
Everton have made some questionable decisions with transfers over the last few years, undoubtedly one of the reasons the club have found themselves in hot water with the Premier League.
The Toffees have been hit with multiple points deductions this campaign, with Sean Dyche's side accumulating eight points for multiple breaches of the league’s PSR rules.
Signings of players such as Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Yerry Mina cost the club over £50m, with the duo both departing Goodison Park on free transfers upon the end of their contracts.

However, the club can add another player to their list of talents who have failed to replicate their best form at the club, after he departed the Toffees a number of years ago after an unsuccessful stint on Merseyside.
Nikola Vlasic’s time at Everton
After joining the club in an £8m deal from Croatian side Hadjuk Split, midfielder Nikola Vlasic arrived at Goodison with high expectations following three goals in six appearances at the start of the 2017/18 season.
However, he never hit the heights expected of him, failing to score or assist in any of his 12 Premier League outings and only featuring for a total of 574 minutes at Goodison Park.

The move on the whole was a complete disaster, with Vlasic subsequently departing the club on a season-long loan to join Russian side CSKA Moscow for the 2018/19 campaign – in a bid to regain his form that saw the Toffees sign him.
The move would see the midfielder recapture his excellent form, achieving 15 goal contributions in his 31 appearances for the club in all competitions.
After taking Russia by storm, CSKA decided to buy Vlasic, departing Merseyside after one season on Merseyside – but making the club a profit of £6m – with the Croatian joining his loan side on a permanent basis for a fee in the region of £14m.
How much Nikola Vlasic earned at Goodison Park
Upon his move back in 2017, midfielder Vlasic signed a deal worth £25k-per-week, as per Spotrac – with the star having expectations of being a huge success on Merseyside.
However, as previously mentioned, he failed to impress at Goodison, with the flop earning a total of £1.3m in wages during his single season at Goodison.
West Ham attackerNikola Vlasic
His weekly wage is currently higher than Everton’s star defender Jarrad Branthwaite, who only earns £15k-per-week, despite his stellar campaign that saw him claim the club’s Young Player of the Season award.
When coupling Vlasic’s weekly earnings with his transfer fee, he cost the Toffees a total of £9.7m – a huge waste of money given his disappointing spell at the club.
However, luckily Everton made a profit on him, mainly helped by his successful loan spell in Russia, otherwise the club would've been able to add him to the list of players they've lost money on.
Many supporters will want to forget his time on Merseyside, with the club making the right call in offloading him, especially considering he’s only managed three goals for Torino in Serie A during 2023/24.

New Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca is set to hand one youngster the chance to impress in west London, but the club have their heart set on selling.

Earlier this week, Maresca was officially unveiled as Chelsea's head coach, following the departure of Mauricio Pochettino who left by mutual consent.

The Italian arrives with a growing reputation, which has been helped by his history working under Pep Guardiola as an assistant at Man City. Maresca guided Leicester City to the Championship title in his first season away from Eastlands, which turned the heads of Chelsea chiefs.
Maresca is now setting plans in motion to improve the Chelsea squad after making the move to Stamford Bridge and is also planning to make Cole Palmer the vocal point of his attack (John Percy).
He'll already have his favoured players and formation firmly in mind, such is his reputation as a meticulous tactician. Certain members of the squad face uncertain futures as well, but it will be interesting to see how Maresca looks to introduce Chelsea's youngster players.
The Cobham academy has produced an array of talents in recent years, and Chelsea's youth development system is arguably one of the best in England. Attacking midfielder Omari Hutchinson could certainly be added to that list, with TEAMtalk sharing an update on his future.
Hutchinson set for Maresca chance but Chelsea want sale
As per their information, Maresca is set to hand young Hutchinson a chance to impress at Chelsea in pre-season. However, club chiefs are practically dead-set on selling the player, as they believe he could accumulate £30 million.
The Englishman, speaking to Sky Sports in an interview, revealed how futsal developed him into an entertaining flair player.
"I like to entertain the crowd," said Hutchinson on his playing style.
"When I was a kid I loved watching the likes of Neymar, Ronaldinho, Romario, Messi and Coutinho on YouTube. And always in different positions because I used to play everywhere across the front three.

"Playing futsal was probably when I was happiest. It was so fun. I was always learning new tricks, learning how to get out of tight situations, receiving the ball in different ways – with the sole, either side of my foot, or doing flip-flaps.
"It helped me massively with my technique. I think a lot of kids should play it. It will help their game as they get older."
The 20-year-old, who spent last season on a temporary spell at Ipswich and helped Kieran McKenna's side secure promotion to the Premier League, made 44 Championship appearances at Portman Road. Just under half came as full starts, with Hutchinson bagging 10 goals and five assists in the process.

Scotland batsman starred in ODI victory over England at The Grange in 2018
ESPNcricinfo staff10-Sep-2020Calum MacLeod, the Scotland batsman whose brilliant century condemned England’s World Cup winners to a rare ODI defeat in 2018, has signed for Sussex for the Vitality Blast.MacLeod, 31, has previously played for Warwickshire, Durham and most recently, Derbyshire. He comes into Sussex’s squad to replace Phil Salt, who has been drafted into the England ODI set-up as a reserve for this week’s series against Australia. He has played 49 T20Is for Scotland, as well as 66 ODIs, with eight hundreds in the latter format, including an unbeaten 140 from 94 balls at the Grange in June 2018, as Scotland posted a formidable 371 for 5 against England, and held on for a famous six-run win.”I’m absolutely delighted to be down here in Sussex,” said MacLeod. “It’s an exciting opportunity to get out there and play some cricket.”I’ve got some good experience having played in the Blast before and hopefully I can add some experience to the dressing room to help win a few games.”It’s a very exciting white-ball squad. Sussex are always a team that when they’re on Sky, I sit down and watch them. They’ve always been a team I’ve looked at to see how they do things.”Matt Machan and Stu Whittingham, when we were away with Scotland, always spoke so well of the club, so to get the opportunity to come here and play, and see what this T20 team can do, is one that I’m thoroughly looking forward to.”Sussex head coach, Jason Gillespie added: “Calum is an experienced cricketer, and a good T20 player.”He’s performed well in the Blast in the past and we believe he will be a good addition.”We’re missing a couple of players, and with Salty joining the England squad, it’s good to have another option at the top of the order.”Since making his international debut in 2008 against England, MacLeod has scored 2,175 ODI runs and 1,042 IT20 runs. His highest ODI score of 175 came against Canada in a World Cup qualifier in 2014.In T20Is, MacLeod’s highest score of 72 came against Ireland in 2019, while he has also played franchise cricket in Canada’s Global T20 tournament and the Afghanistan Premier League, and in 2018, scored a century in the Vitality Blast for Derbyshire Falcons. He will be available for Thursday night’s match against Hampshire at The Ageas Bowl.

WHAT HAPPENED?
While the tournament is notorious for its tricky weather conditions, unforgiving pot bunkers, and tall fescue, Bale's biggest obstacle on Friday at Carnoustie came in the form of a furry little dog. During the second round on Friday, Bale found himself in an almost comical situation on the first hole. After a perfectly executed chip shot that rolled close to the pin, Bale appeared set for an easy putt. However, before he could sink the ball, a dog sprinted onto the green, grabbed the ball in its mouth, and trotted back to its owner as Bale and onlookers were left in disbelief.

Fortunately for Bale, golf's rulebook came to the rescue. According to Rule 9.6 in the United States Golf Association (USGA) handbook: "If it is known or virtually certain that an outside influence (including another player in stroke play or another ball) lifted or moved a player’s ball at rest, there is no penalty, and the ball must be replaced on its original spot (which if not known must be estimated)." Despite the unusual interruption, Bale and his partner Dan Brown finished their round well. They carded a six-under-par score, keeping them in contention for the pro-am team title. Earlier this year, he participated in the PGA Tour’s Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California and the BMW PGA Championship Pro-Am at Wentworth.

WHAT NEXT FOR BALE?
After Saturday’s third round, the top 20 teams will progress to the final round at the iconic Old Course at St Andrews. With Bale and Brown in strong form, the pair will be hoping to secure a spot in the finals and potentially lift the pro-am team title in this prestigious event.
Today is a new beginning. Today is the day that Arne Slot gets to work as Liverpool's new head coach.
The saddening departure of Jurgen Klopp not two weeks ago, when he led his side to one final dance against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League, is still fresh in supporters' minds but hard graft must be plied over the coming months to set Anfield up for a successful start to a new era.
With Michael Edwards pulling the strings from above, Slot can focus on energising his squad and preparing for the 2024/25 campaign, but there is plenty to do on the transfer front, not least ensuring that core trio Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah – all out of contract in one year – do not leave.
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk.
However, there are further potential exits on the cards, with Barcelona's lingering interest in Luis Diaz something that could be granted on Merseyside if an apt replacement was identified.
While he might not be a left-sided wide forward by default, Liverpool are looking to sign a talented Premier League star and could make their move if certain cards come into play in the coming weeks and months.
Liverpool lining up Premier League star
According to L'Equipe, Liverpool are indeed on the prowl for a new wide forward and have focussed their efforts on Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, aged 24, with the French-born ace ready to take the next step in his career.
Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo
The Bees would demand a fee in excess of £50m for Mbeumo, who has played a starring role in keeping the club in the English top flight for three successive seasons, though a deal is complicated by interest in his strike partner Ivan Toney.
Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested, though Slot will hope that his team's exciting project and allure of Champions League football will put Liverpool in the driving seat.
Bryan Mbeumo's season in numbers
Unfortunately, Mbeumo's incredible start to the season was stifled by injury in December, with the 5 foot 7 whiz missing three months through the middle period of the campaign after injuring his ankle and requiring surgery.
The 11-cap Cameroon international, who opted to play for the African nation due to familial ties, had fired his way into form during the opening months of the 2023/24 season, scoring seven goals and supplying three assists across 15 games before his mishap.
The Athletic's Jay Harris had even remarked that he “cannot be stopped” during this Midas-touching period. Let's not forget, supreme goalscorer Toney was suspended until January but this did not stop Mbeumo from succeeding, perhaps even allowing him to showcase his talismanic ability to a greater level.
As per Sofascore, Mbeumo scored nine goals and provided six assists from only 22 starting roles in the Premier League, creating six big chances and averaging 1.3 key passes, one dribble, 4.2 successful duels and 3.7 ball recoveries per game.

Not just a goalscorer, Mbeumo possesses creative, ball-progressing and defensive skills that make him a fearsome weapon in the Premier League, ranking among the top 10% of forwards across Europe's top five leagues over the past year for assists and shot-creating actions, the top 5% for passes attempted, the top 7% for progressive passes and progressive carries and the top 5% for blocks per 90, as per FBref.
Mbeumo's FBref metrics underscore a roundedness and dynamism in his approach play that enhances his team and puts him above that of just 'goalscorer'. Instead, this is a player with far-reaching skills that would make him a tailor-made addition to Liverpool.
Ivan Toney, Bryan Mbeumo, and Rico Henry
Moreover, this is illustrated through the £45k-per-week star's influence when performing, making Brentford a far better, more fluid and more effective unit. It's no wonder that Thomas Frank has hailed him as "very sharp".
Why Bryan Mbeumo would star at Liverpool
Slot's system, while not yet implemented on the Anfield pitch, is likely to demonstrate a fast-flowing, possession-based blend, with Dutch reporter Marcel van der Kraan recently praising the "crazy, sexy style".
A semblance of high-octane football can be found in Slot's system, but he is not a carbon copy of his Liverpool predecessor and his focus on control is something that makes Mbeumo such an interesting prospective arrival, with the Brentford man's aforementioned ball skills perfectly placed for success on the right flank, or upfront.
His technical prowess and the fact that he could be signed, aged 24, from a Premier League rival performing lower down the table – Brentford finished 16th this season – could make him Slot's own version of Sadio Mane, with the Senegalese forward instrumental in kickstarting Klopp's reign.

Firstly, Mane's positional versatility made him an invaluable striker for Liverpool, and so too is Mbeumo free of the shackles of tactical inflexibility, scoring four goals and adding one assist from nine matches from centre-forward this season but clinching five goals and five assists apiece from 14 matches on the right.
Furthermore, Mane's goalscoring ability made him the perfect fit after signing from Southampton in a £34m deal in 2016, posting 120 strikes from 269 appearances for the Reds.
Fleet of foot, positively electric and invariably sharp, Mane might not have maintained the same prolific levels of his alternate wide-man Salah, but he was so impressive in an iconic Premier League frontline, embodying Liverpool's approach of shaping talented players into world-beaters, instead of launching ludicrous sums for those already performing at the top of their game.
Mbeumo is itching for a chance to prove himself for a team at the top of the European game, and while he's got plenty to prove, Slot might just hit the jackpot in signing him, replicating Klopp's Mane masterclass and starting his tenure with a bang.

Chelsea are set to make an offer for one £80 million star in the next few days, with Enzo Maresca's side facing competition from elite European clubs Atletico Madrid and Paris-Saint Germain in a potentially high-profile transfer tussle.

After confirming the arrival of their new head coach earlier this week, Stamford Bridge chiefs have now turned their attention to the summer window, as they look to usher in the Maresca era with some squad upgrades.

The likes of Fabrizio Romano have backed Chelsea to have a busy next few months in terms of incomings and outgoings at the club, with the Blues already sealing their first deal of the summer in recent days.

"It will continue to be a busy summer at Chelsea," said Romano on Chelsea's transfer plans after bringing in Maresca to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

"It won’t be completely crazy but they will try to make smart things happen, including a new goalkeeper and I expect them to try for at least one new centre-back, but it could be two. I also expect Chelsea to be busy with the striker position, and I mentioned many times Benjamin Sesko, who is highly rated at Chelsea but also by others like Arsenal and Manchester United.”
In terms of attacking signings, alongside a new centre-forward, it is believed that Chelsea are eyeing up a new winger as well. Benjamin Sesko and Michael Olise are keen on joining Chelsea, according to some reports, and discussions have been held with their agents.
RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko
It is still very early days in regard to both moves, though, even if some outlets suggest Chelsea are ready to trigger Olise's release clause in the coming weeks. The west Londoners have attacking alternatives, and one of them is Man City forward Julian Alvarez.
The Argentine World Cup winner, who reportedly commands a price tag of around £80 million, is now subject to interest from Maresca and co. Chelsea's new head coach worked with Alvarez during their time together at Eastlands, with Maresca serving as Pep Guardiola's assistant before moving to Leicester last summer.
Chelsea set for imminent offer to sign Julian Alvarez
As per reliable South American journalist Gaston Edul, speaking to TyC Sports, Chelsea are set to make an offer for Alvarez in the next few days. However, both Atletico and PSG are also contending for the 24-year-old.
"Chelsea will make a proposal for Julian Alvarez in the next few days," said Edul, as translated by Chelsea News.
"Atletico Madrid has also asked for information from agents. PSG are interested in making an offer too.. Alvarez just wants to play more, but City wants to keep him ideally and it won’t be easy to negotiate."
Alvarez has been called an "amazing talent" by Haaland, and scored 19 goals in all competitions last season for the eventual Premier League champions.

If the Covid-19 situation improves, Bangladesh will play international cricket only in January when West Indies visit

Bangladesh’s cricketers have been forced to extend their break from international cricket after their tour of Sri Lanka was postponed for a second time on Monday. They would have played in a three-match Test series for the first time in six years in October, but now they must wait till January for the home series against West Indies, although that too is uncertain at this stage because of the Covid-19 situation. The BCB has announced that the senior team will continue to train at their camp in Dhaka, during which the players will play three long-format practice matches. They will also continue to stay in a Dhaka hotel for two more weeks to make sure they don’t go out of their bio-secure bubble. But, as ESPNcricinfo has learnt, the players are not too happy to stay in the bubble without international cricket in the offing. The practice matches are likely to be followed by a T20 tournament, which will also have players from the high-performance set-up and others. The BCB is also hoping that the clubs will agree to restart the 2019-20 Dhaka Premier League, which was postponed after one round of matches in March.Mominul Haque, the Test captain who might have led Bangladesh in ten Tests in 2020, said that following the disappointment of the Sri Lanka postponement, the players have no choice but to use domestic games to keep themselves in touch. He, however, admitted that the lack of international cricket wouldn’t do the players any good.”As a player it is disappointing,” Haque told ESPNcricinfo. “We had an opportunity to play after six months but it is out of our control. I don’t want to think too much about it. I think every team has to deal with the difficulty of returning after a long break these days. I think if we get to play domestic cricket before international matches, we can cover some of that gap.”It is difficult to understand what exactly is the situation when there’s no international cricket.”Selector Habibul Bashar echoed Haque’s thoughts, saying that Bangladesh’s best cricketers were losing out because of the circumstances. “It is unfortunate that the players have lost a year of their career,” he said. “Tamim Iqbal misses out on a thousand runs. Mushfiqur Rahim misses out on a few centuries. They are not get any younger. But there’s not much we can do in a pandemic. The Bangladesh senior team will continue to train at their camp in Dhaka•LightRocket via Getty Images
“[Coming back after the break] will be a big challenge for us, definitely. It is never good to stay out of international cricket for so long. We will be out for almost a year. It is not going to be easy. If we utilise our domestic cricket, we will be better prepared. We wouldn’t have been too well prepared ahead of this Sri Lanka series, but it would have at least been a start.”Bangladesh have had longer gaps in Test cricket but even when they missed out for 15 months (July 2015 to October 2016) and 14 months (June 2010 to August 2011) they at least played ODIs and T20Is. In fact, their long sequence of ODI matches have often helped them find success in other formats: the run-up to the 2007 World Cup gave them their best result in the tournament till that point, and the period following the 2015 World Cup showed meaningful progress.Mustafizur Rahman, meanwhile, has more reason to feel hard-done-by, having missed out on a chance to play in the IPL after the BCB refused him a no-objection certificate.”It would have been great to play the Test series,” Rahman told . “If the BCB knew that the Sri Lanka series would be postponed, they would have given me the NOC for IPL. But whatever happens, happens for the best; I may have earned Taka 1 crore ($118,000 approx.) had I played the IPL.”Sri Lanka’s proposal to have us quarantined for 14 days didn’t seem possible for us. You cannot sit in your room before such an important series, no matter how hard you train. BCB tried, but the 14-day quarantine is their law. I think we should respect it.”
