Kylian Mbappe bags SEVEN-MINUTE hat-trick! Real Madrid superstar turns Olympiacos Champions League clash on its head with rapid treble

Kylian Mbappe made more history on Wednesday night as he took just seven minutes to bag a Champions League hat-trick against Olympiacos. The Greek side had taken a shock lead against Xabi Alonso's side with a brilliant team goal, but were left stunned as Mbappe netted three times in just seven minutes to put Los Blancos firmly in control of the tie.

  • Mbappe the hat-trick hero for Real Madrid

Mbappe has been in stunning form this season for Real Madrid but had headed into the match without a goal in his last three games for Alonso's side. However, the France international was quick to end that particular drought, equalising for the visitors after 22 minutes of the match. Mbappe headed home his second two minutes later to put Real Madrid in front and then had his third before the half-hour mark. Arda Guler's ball over the top found the Frenchman in acres of space, and he confidently despatched a low shot past goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis to ensure he'll be taking home another match ball for his collection.

  • Hat-trick is second fastest in the Champions League

Mbappe's hat-trick is the second fastest the Champions League has ever seen. The Frenchman's three goals were clocked at six minutes and 42 seconds, just behind Mohamed Salah's treble against Rangers for Liverpool in 2022. Salah was marginally quicker with his hat-trick timed at six minutes and 13 seconds.

However, the Real Madrid superstar does now have more hat-tricks away from home than any other player in the history of the Champions League. Wednesday's treble was the fourth time he had scored three goals in a game in an away fixture.

  • Mbappe to win another Golden Shoe?

Mbappe won the Golden Shoe last season, beating off competition from Viktor Gyokeres and Salah after netting 31 times in his debut campaign for Real Madrid following his blockbuster move from Paris Saint-Germain. The France star will be hoping to win the prestigious prize again and is certainly in good shape currently. Mbappe has 13 goals in 13 La Liga outings for Real Madrid this season and his hat-trick against Olympiacos takes his tally to eight in five Champions League appearances.

Fabrizio Romano shares Wolves 'talks' as Fosun line up two new appointments

Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on a pair of appointments that Wolverhampton Wanderers are expected to make in the near future.

Despite being given a contract extension just weeks into the season, Vitor Pereira was sacked by Wolves following 10 Premier League games without a win. The Midlands side have since been linked with a number of managers that could potentially replace the Portuguese.

Wolves are eight points adrift of safety, sitting rock bottom of the league table with just two points taken from a potential 30. Whoever replaces Pereira will have a sizeable job on their hands, and the frontrunner appears to be Rob Edwards, with an approach made on Thursday.

For their upcoming clash against Chelsea, Wolves have decided on who will take interim charge of the first-team as they seek not one, but two new appointments.

Soon after Pereira was relieved of his duties, director of football Domenico Teti departed the club, having only joined in the summer to work alongside the manager.

Romano shares update as Wolves pursue appointments

It is imperative that Fosun, who have owned Wolves since 2016, make appointments that will be effective in their roles and able to contribute to Wolves’ efforts to retain their status as a Premier League outfit. As per GIVEMESPORT, Romano has revealed that work is ongoing on both fronts.

Though Wolves have been linked with some options, such as Erik ten Hag, who have no prior connection to the club, reports have suggested that Wolves are interested in a manager that knows the club. Until pulling himself out of the running, ex-Wolves boss Gary O’Neil was linked with a return.

Edwards seems the most likely candidate, having enjoyed a strong start to the season as Middlesbrough head coach. The former defender, who guided Luton Town to the Premier League, spent four years at Molineux during his playing career.

As per Romano, Wolves are looking to “cover” their director of football position alongside hiring a new manager, ensuring that they are prepared for both the remainder of the season and the fast-approaching January transfer window.

There is still time for Wolves to salvage something from the season, but such an act relies on the correct decisions being made with important appointments such as the ones they must now make.

One of "England's best young coaches" linked with Wolves

ExWHUemployee says Nuno really isn't fond of another West Ham player after Ward-Prowse

New West Ham boss Nuno Espírito Santo is continuing to assess his best squad as the Hammers look to swerve a relegation dogfight.

Nuno raises eyebrows with West Ham team to play Brentford

Nuno attracted plenty of criticism after fielding what was a bizarre starting line-up last time out against Brentford.

The Portuguese seriously tinkered with his side, playing Olly Scarles and Kyle Walker-Peters on their opposite full-back sides and going with the largely static midfield duo of Tomas Soucek and Andy Irving.

Despite speculation that highly-rated young striker Callum Marshall – who scored for fun in West Ham’s youth setup and got into double figures on loan at Huddersfield last season – was due to start, Nuno instead went with Lucas Paqueta as a false nine.

By all accounts, his experiment was a disaster.

West Ham failed to lay a glove on Brentford throughout a dire 90 minutes where Keith Andrews’s side strolled to a 2-0 victory at the London Stadium, and the home side were lucky the scoreline wasn’t more embarrassing.

Sunderland 3-0 West Ham

West Ham 1-5 Chelsea

Nottingham Forest 0-3 West Ham

West Ham 0-3 Tottenham

West Ham 1-2 Crystal Palace

Everton 1-1 West Ham

Arsenal 2-0 West Ham

West Ham 0-2 Brentford

Tony Cottee slammed Nuno’s “awful” West Ham team selection to play Brentford, and he wasn’t the only one.

It will be interesting to see how the former Nottingham Forest boss sets his team up to play Leeds at Elland Road tonight, but there are a couple of players who definitely won’t be taking part.

Almost immediately after replacing Graham Potter, Nuno axed vice-captain James Ward-Prowse from the matchday squad, and the Englishman hasn’t featured since.

The 30-year-old, who is believed to be one free-kick goal away from matching David Beckham’s all-time Premier League record of 18, isn’t fancied at all by Nuno and reports suggest that Ward-Prowse is likely to leave West Ham in January.

Niclas Füllkrug, George Earthy and Konstantinos Mavropanos will also miss West Ham’s trip to Leeds through injury.

Meanwhile, as per insider ExWHUemployee, Nuno is unlikely to start summer signing Callum Wilson.

ExWHUemployee shares real reason why Nuno is snubbing Callum Wilson

Writing via his Patreon, Ex has responded to claims that West Ham are hesitant to play the Englishman due to a high appearance fee.

WestHamUnited manager GrahamPotter and Callum Wilson celebrate after the match

The club signed Wilson on a free transfer from Newcastle, and reports at the time stated that the majority of his West Ham earnings would come through a ‘pay as you play’ agreement, where as much as 90 per cent of his salary could depend on appearances made.

This has led to murmurs that West Ham aren’t playing Wilson to save cash, but Ex has refuted this.

It is actually believed that Nuno simply doesn’t fancy Wilson at West Ham, making the need for a new centre-forward in January all the more pressing.

Nuno definitely cannot play Paqueta up top again following a pretty lacklustre display against Brentford, where he lost possession a seismic 23 times.

The Brazilian is far better utilised playing in midfield where he can influence the game with his creativity, so Nuno will likely go with either Marshall or Jarrod Bowen as a makeshift striker.

This being said, West Ham legend Tony Gale is convinced that Nuno needs to play Wilson as the number nine.

‘He will surely be awarded the MVP’ – Inter Miami’s Javier Mascherano hails Lionel Messi after hat-trick heroics against Nashville SC

Lionel Messi’s hat-trick powered Inter Miami to a 5-2 road win over Nashville SC to close out the MLS regular season in style, securing third place in the Eastern Conference. The Argentine star now sits on 29 goals, strengthening his case for a second straight MVP. The two sides will meet again in the first round of the playoffs.

    'Leo has been exceptional'

Inter Miami manager Javier Mascherano believes Messi's emphatic regular season finale encapsulates his impact on the season. The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner led MLS in assists with 19.

"The reality is that Leo has been exceptional, as he usually is," Mascherano said. "I think if anyone had doubts about his regular season, he has cleared them all. He will surely be awarded the MVP."

Despite the strong result, Cincinnati's win over Charlotte prevented Inter Miami from finishing second in the Eastern Conference. The Herons' third-place finish means they will face Nashville again in the opening round of the playoffs.

"I was hopeful that maybe Cincinnati wouldn’t get the win – it didn’t happen. Now we face [Nashville] again on Friday, and from that moment on, you’re playing for your entire season," Mascherano said.

    Defense the focus

Inter Miami conceded 55 goals this season, which ranks fifth-worst in the Eastern Conference. With the team aiming to lift its first MLS Cup, Mascherano stressed his team can't afford the lapses it showed during the season in the playoffs.

"We can’t fool ourselves; now we enter the decisive part, and every moment counts. We can’t make those mistakes again," he said.

  • History ahead?

Messi would make history if named MVP of the season, as he would become the first player in MLS history to win the award back-to-back.

West Ham now open talks with "tactically astute" manager to replace Potter

West Ham United have now opened talks with a “tactically astute” manager, who could replace Graham Potter.

Potter under pressure after Crystal Palace defeat

It has been far from the ideal start to the Premier League season for West Ham, with Potter’s side currently sitting in the relegation zone, after losing four of their opening five games, and the manager is now under significant pressure.

Following the 2-1 loss at home against Crystal Palace on Saturday, there have been widespread reports suggesting the 50-year-old could be replaced as manager, after admitting he was disappointed with his side’s performance against the Eagles.

Potter said: “It’s this level and at the moment it’s not enough and we have to face up to that.

“We have to do more, we have to work harder, we have to find a solution to it. We have to be more stable defensively and offensively and find more ways to look stronger as a team. That’s where the work is now.”

West Ham hold talks with title-winning ex-Tottenham manager to replace Potter

The Englishman’s future is very uncertain after a poor start to 25/26.

1 ByEmilio Galantini Sep 20, 2025

Even prior to the defeat against Palace, the board were weighing up potential replacements for Potter, with Slaven Bilic and Nuno Espirito Santo named among the targets, and a new report has revealed that another manager is also being targeted.

According to a report from The Boot Room, West Ham have held talks with former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Gary O’Neil this week, as they begin to prepare for life after Potter.

The report, which was released before Saturday’s game, states the Hammers’ hierarchy were planning to sack their current manager if they lost against Crystal Palace, which suggests it may be a matter of time before he departs.

Explaining the situation further, transfer expert Graeme Bailey adds: “West Ham are talking to other managers, and this tells us in recent history this is really bad news for Potter.

“It happened with Lopetegui and Moyes before him. Hammers’ sources are not pushing back; they can’t, as people know it is happening. It’s going to take some effort for Potter to remain in charge of the club.”

O'Neil would be risky appointment for West Ham

It is starting to look like the Hammers need to part ways with Potter, given that the manager has averaged just 0.92 points per match since his arrival, but there are doubts over whether O’Neil would be a savvy replacement.

The 42-year-old is still relatively inexperienced, having managed AFC Bournemouth for less than one full season, while he was also dismissed by Wolves last December, at which point the Old Gold were four points from safety.

The former Bournemouth boss has received some praise from a fellow manager, with Eddie Howe branding him “tactically astute”, but he would be a risky appointment, at a time when West Ham securing Premier League safety is paramount.

As such, Nuno may be a better appointment, having led Nottingham Forest to Europe last season, so it is promising news that West Ham are also in for the 51-year-old.

Man Utd 'agree deal' to sign Colombia U17 wonderkid as Red Devils build for the future

Manchester United are once again dipping into the South American talent pool, this time with the capture of Colombian prodigy Cristian Orozco. Reports in Colombia suggest the Red Devils have thrashed out a deal with Fortaleza CEIF, the teenager’s current side, as Ruben Amorim continues a long-term rebuild at Old Trafford.

  • Orozco will head to Old Trafford

Colombian journalist reported that a preliminary agreement is already in place between United and Fortaleza CEIF, setting the wheels in motion for Orozco’s move once he turns 18 in July next year. The teenager will become the latest addition to United’s growing roster of South American recruits.

    Teen titan on the rise

Orozco, just 17 years old, has already made waves at the international youth level despite never featuring in the Colombian top flight. Operating primarily as a defensive midfielder, the youngster has impressed with his leadership and maturity. He captained Colombia’s U17 side to the final of the South American Championships, earning rave reviews for his composure and ball-winning ability.

  • United’s South American gamble

Just months ago, full-back Diego Leon was prised away from Paraguayan outfit Cerro Porteno in a £3 million move. Leon, already a U20 international for Paraguay, joined United’s pre-season tour of the United States and has been named in senior matchday squads this term. Orozco’s arrival fits the same mould: raw, hungry, and bursting with potential.

    United’s youth revolution rolls on

From Ayden Heaven and Chido Obi to Diego Leon and now Orozco, United’s youth department is aggressively stockpiling talent. Old Trafford has always prided itself on developing stars of tomorrow, and with Amorim at the helm, that tradition shows no signs of slowing down. The Colombian starlet’s name might not yet be familiar to Premier League fans, but if the hype is anything to go by, Orozco could soon be one of the brightest jewels in United’s crown.
